There is no sense jumping all willy-nilly into these new-fangled technologies. I think you were smart waiting until they ironed out all the bugs.

I thought I was the last...

I transitioned from dial-up to DSL just 2 years ago. I am located ~20,000 feet from my local telco switch so DSL wasn't an option for me. My twisted pair was so bad I couldn't even get better then 33,600 from my 56K modem! I refuse to give the cable company any money so I had to suffer.

One day I drove by the corner and saw a new equipment box out there. I checked with the photo provider and BANG I can now get DSL!! They just ran fiber into the neighborhood and used the original copper wire pair for the last few thousand feet.

About a year ago something failed in the box so I tried the dial up again as a backup. Its not even a solution just for checking email anymore!

Wow, dial up. When was the last time? I think it was 1999 for me. But, in the U.S. we lack internet connections for everyone compared to other countries. It's just another example of how the U.S. is falling behind technologically. And the speed in the U.S. is slower, compared to other countries. I don't think computers even come with a phone modem anymore.

Congratulations to those who can now get service.
Enjoy, streaming radio, Hulu, You-tube, ect.

You have new freedom. Welcome to the 21st century.
