Hi everyone,

Recently, the electric spark ignitor has stopped lighting the gas in this machine. It is not trying at all (as opposed to sparking but not lighting.) The spark contacts are touching but are not fused together. The machine runs, the blower is running fine, and the exhaust is not blocked. The machine does not try to activate the ignitor on any setting, temperature switch or timer.

Could you tell me how to test the components (ignitor, flame sensor, and valve control) under the top access panel? Can I test the ignitor out of the machine to determine whether it has gone bad?

Any other sensors I should take a look at?

Thank you for your time and any suggestions you can offer.

No Heat From a SQ Gas Dryer

The first thing to check is whether you are getting 120 volts to the gas burner assembly when the dryer is running and calling for heat. Your problem could be in the gas burner area if you are getting 120 there or if not the problem is in the dryers electrical system, it could be a bad thromostat, motor centrifugal switch, timer, heat selector switch, or of course a loose or broken wire some where.

Good Luck, John L.
