Dan Langdon is in town visiting his mother from Seattle so we got together today for some appliance rescues, estate sales and antique stores. Jamie (chromacolor) joined in the afternoon scavenging and we all came home with "a little something."

Dan found these enormous utensils at an antique store in Fremont, NE where we drove for an estate sale. The Maytag was another Council Bluffs find - they were just too minty to not bring home.

It truly is Avocado Month around here, that's for sure - last week the green '71 Speed Queens and now this '66 set!

WOW!

What a fantastic set!
You guys look like you are having fun!
Are they taking the set with them? Or are you keeping them Greg? I know you have the room for them.
Thanks for the pictures!
Brent

I think Greg said it best when he refered to his garage as "a Cavalcade of Avocado". It was a lovely day (Who'd a thought Fremont could be so interesting? Before today, I just thought of it as the place my maternal grandparents are buried), and I'm hoping I can make it across the river for a wash-in tomorrow.

Very nice finds you guys, I don't know that much about Maytag's from that era but shouldn't the filter be turquoise plastic and not stainless steel?

Greg, I believe that is not the original agitator. I'm thinking the original had a plate fitted to the underside, thus creating a path for water from the filter to flow through

Wow you guys - what a nice looking find there! If that is a 66/67 machine, it should have the two piece - 4 Power Fins and 4 ribbed fined agitator, with the webbed lint filter. The set looks just mint. I know who's basement they'd look great in, and not mine!

Are you sure that button says Wash 'N Wear? ;-)

also, it was nice meeting Dan. I hope to make it over tonight for another visit. Fremont was fun. There is a nice "antique/thrift" store that I love and we all found good stuff. None of us are lacking in "Kitchen Klatter" tips now...

Avocado with envy...

For some reason, the only Avocado machines I ever wanted were a Maytag 806 pair--dunno why, the colors just went together well.

...and I agree with the others, when Maytag first introduced the power-fin it had those speed bumps(vestigial limbs from the old agitators).

Very Cool! Wish I could find those types of things here in Florida, although I have been pretty lucky.

Greg, please straighten out the agitator drama. LOL!

Steve
