I knew someone who had that machine on a regular dolly and rolled it to their kithcen sink (in their own house, even!).
1- The dolly meant it "flew" upon its meager unimpressive spin. Needed constant attention.
2- The machine was first bought for and used in their rental apartment. The fear of suds coming up in other's sinks meant the the owner used a scant tablespoon or two of detergent. The filth and muck from the armpits and inseam areas was therefore transferred to the whole load. All of this woman's clothes were grey/yellow and stunk. Apparently the use of detergent does actually hold soil in suspension to be flushed out of the washer *LOL*
While she was away on vaction me and her son (my ex)washed the contents or her (pack-rat) linen closet and threw away anything badly torn, tattered, stained or otherwise beyond redemption.
Did cold water prewashes with twice the recommended detergent level. Then warm water main wash and warm water rinse. The final second rinse was in cold water.
When Madame returned she had asked how I got the clothes so clean and to smell so good. (It's YOUR detergent, woman). [Well she also rejoiced that we had painted her whole house interior but that is another story]. I simply said "I used adequate detergent". I got a puzzled look. I said it's YOUR house now, if you see suds in the sink, just add salt to the sink. "OH"
Now being a TAURUS, (who tend to have a fixed way of thinking), convincing her was not easy. I put it this way.
Do you see the lid of the washer? It says
1- Load clothes loosely in washer.
2- Add MEASURED detergent... etc.
See, by putiing in the clothes BEFORE the machine fill it won't overflow anymore. "OH"
And by using 1/2 to 3/4 (but NOT LESS) of the recommmended amount of detergent you will have CLEAN cothes. Now who knows better about dosage, you or the chemical engineers who went to school for years just for this issue who MAKE detergents? I think I coinvinced her to use more! LOL
As a TAURUS, it did not have to BE clean (though with me it was), it only had to SMELL clean. That is enough for them to register "CLEAN"
Anyhow, I had fun with that machine, suds-lock and all. Thanks for this Greg. I'm sure you are enjoying your new toy!
It brought back SO MANY memories in me, as my aunt had the 24" verison as well, which she gave to me!
