I am developing arthritis in my hands. I discovered that after adding nutmeg to several things I eat like the frozen yogurt and my morning smoothie, I had reduced pain. At first, I did it for flavor, but then I noticed the pain reduction so I looked up nutmeg and want to share with you what I found.

Thats very interesting Tom, I had never heard of this before. I’m glad that this had givn you some pain relief from your arthritis. How much are you using, and have you noticed any side effects?

I’ve suffered from arthritis for well over 20 years and have had both of my hips replaced due to arthritis. I firmly beleive that its much better to avoid prescription pain medication if at all possible. Since my last hip replacement over 2 years ago (the first one was done ove 13 years ago) I’ve been mostly pain free. The colder weather will cause some flare ups in my hands or knees, but its completley managable with either a couple of plain old fashioned aspirin, or one 500 mg Tylenol. But I’ll give the nutmeg a try too, has to be healtier that anything else.

Thanks for the tip.

Eddie

I Had No Idea

I like the part about using it in warm milk to help sleep.

Like Wes said above, if I try it I think I'll start off slow, sounds like more is not necessarily better...

I have my MM card.

I have arthritis starting in my left thumb where it joins my hand. I get a THC/CBD salve that works well.

I also use Arnica Gel. Will try the Nutmeg.

I always look up Natural Cures before going to the Dr.

Ginger & Turmeric

Suffer from arthritis from time to time too, right knee and, increasingly, right hand. Not heard of nutmeg as pain relief before but would give it a go as I use it in cooking - I am guessing fresh grated would be a lot better than ready ground.

You might also like to try ginger and/or tumeric which are supposed to help too - in my book anything is wortha try. Good luck with it.

Al

Yep, tumeric also, which is

the husk of nutmeg. It can be pricey for the strong potency suppliments.
The best of health to everyone here!
My spouse has early signs of reuhmetoid arthritis in his neck, and shoulder, and takes 3
500 mg krill omega red capsules per day. It also helps the ruptured disk. It's also good for the heart. I take one per day.
We are doing our best to rail against aging by eating healthy and are at the gym at least 4 if not 5 days per week. I'm down to 219 lbs. from 243. My goal is 200 by January, and I'd like to get back to my regular best weight of 190. If I'm any lighter I look kecectic and twiggy, even with good muscle tone.
I feel so much better, and losing weight also takes stress of the joints.
It gets harder as we age of course, and when you have to help care for an elderly or ill parent or spouse, etc., your time for you is limited.
When I had my check up in May, I was surprised I wasn't borderline type 2 diabetic. Both my parents had it. My 12 hour fasting glucose was 93.
Perhaps my former job which required physical exertion and lifting every day for years had helped me prolong the onset.
