I sort of know how to run it with the lid open, but it has a whole new set of problems when doing it. When a tech came over to my house to fix my machine, they lifted up the top with the lid and the control panel while the machine was spinning to find out the source of my noise issue.
BTW, I don't think that the machine will ever fill up to the top completely, with any cycle, no matter how many clothes are loaded in the basket. Even with the Bulky/Bedding cycle, it only fills up to about 3/4 of the tub, and with a full tub, it fills only a little over half. The level of the water is usually half of the height of the load when dry during normal cycles. However, the only, and I think the only time it fills up to the top is during the Clean Washer cycle to kill all of the stuff at the top of the drum.
Also, if anyone wants to know, the tech sheet is on the inside of the front cabinet to the left. You have to open the top to get it though.
