Not that one! But all the rest a definite YES.

If anyone can get on their knees and humbly show appreciation it is I.

But in general I am alive and healthy, and can wipe my own @$$ and walk under my own power, so I'm doing great. Thank you for asking!

"I actually think they wanted this to happen for free publicity."

Ding*Ding*Ding!

You win first prize - A share of A&F stock! A&F loves the free advertising and blog chatter more than any dollar spent in defending their photos in court. I have several of their catalogs that caused quite the stir from 8-9 years ago and they're going for a tidy sum on Ebay now, I should sell them and buy stock in the company. Tits and ass sell anything. Always have and always will.

Their photo gallery on the website has even better pictures celebrating the beauty of the human body through artistic expression. Makes me want to buy jeans!

Yes, Toggle, Right picture. Thank you. As for your question about scantily clad female models vs: male models, I believe the reason is the prevailing attitudes of the male executives. They lust after the women, but are embarrassed by male nudity because straight males feel very uneasy about being appraised as sex objects, especially when both men and women can do the evaluating. Heterosexual males do not want to have anything introduce or encourage the concept. They know how they turn women into sex objects and the comments they make about women and can't imagine having themselves subjected to the same treatment. After all, if appraised and found lacking, it would damage their fragile egos.

You are very right about being aware of our blessings and being grateful for them. The Hebrew word SHEFA means, among other things, flow, like water in a fountain or an electric circuit from a battery though a bell and back to the battery. When the circuit is complete and the energy flows back to the source, the bell rings. Interrupt the flow and the bell is silent. Likewise, unless a pump returns water from the base to the top of a fountain, it ceases to work. We complete the flow of blessings by giving thanks, completing the circuit and enabling the continued flow of blessings to us from the Source.

That Coppertone ad was splashed on billboards all over Florida in the 1950s. I have a Coppertone tote bag; white vinyl with copper and turquoise graphics and a cord gathered top closure. A friend used it as her clothespin bag. Among the wooden clothespins were some beautiful plastic pins in bright colors. Some are transparent and others opaque. When I happen to glance at it on the shelf or when I use clothespins from it, I have happy memories of a beautiful, fun lady.

*WOW* IT is statements like these that absolutely remind me of what this site is about.
It rang of truth to me instantly in that I felt a chill in my spine and my eyes got misty. No joke. (And I don't cry none too easy, neitha!)
Very seriously, thank you for your glorious and priceless insights.

OK, I have a question about A&F.

Didn't they used to carry more sporting type of merchandise? I remember a professor in college telling a story of going into the A&F store in San Francisco and splurging on a very expensive sports-type watch or knife or something. Not being a member of A&F's target demographic, I can't remember ever setting foot in one of their stores. Plus I avoid malls as a general rule so I'm out of the whole shopping loop in that regard.

That was the OLD

Abercrombie and Fitch.

They were a step above Orvis, and two or three steps above LLBean and Eddie Bauer.

They went out of business around the 80s, and a few years later, the name was bought, I think, by The Limited. Bought by someone, anyway, and was "re-imaged" as a store for young people with too much spare money or overly indulgent parents.

Lawrence/Maytagbear

In Chicago they used to have a A&F on Michigan Ave, back in the 70's. The chain seemed to have a lot of financial problems which probably lead to their buy out.
It was the perfect place to go shopping if you were going on an African Safari or Mountain Climbing.

Thanks for confirming. I had wondered how an operation that was more about outdoor life and upscale sporting items had turned into an overpriced duds-for-dudes emporium.

Americans are way too offended by everything. Now, why I don't shop at A&F I am happy that they have not bowed to the pressure of showing sloppy, fat people/kids whose biggest form of exercise is getting out of bed to go get another soda and some chips.

Kudos for showing that a slim, healthy and muscular body (men and women) is sexy and something that should be aimed for. We'd be better off if more industries follwed suit. If they started showing actual intercourse or some other lude activity... that is another story.

Personally, I do not like their clothes because it would take me HOURS to iron out all those "stylish wrinkles!" LOL

Pull Your Pants Up!

Seriously we wouldnt have these problems if the guys just pulled thier pants up!

I'm still in their target demographic. While in college (1999-2004) in Washington, I was in A&F Home Country and thought their stuff was stylish but overpriced. Around 2002, they also got into pre-tattered clothing with ripped out hemlines and acid washed everything. What the hell? Why would I pay $42 for a pair of cargo pants that look like I've worn them for 5 years?

And I love the sensibility that says "Naked people in B&W inspire me to buy expensive jeans." Oh well, style over substance sells!

You got that one right! Besides seeing the teen gals who go around looking like little tramps, I am appalled at how BIG some of these teens are. I am now seeing guys and gals in high school that were a size that used to be reserved for the overweight middle agers. I swear some of these kids are at least 75-100lbs overweight!
A few years ago, I went to a local high school theater production, one of my neighbors kids was in it. What did I see in the school? Coke machines and snack machines all over the place. No wonder these kids are fat!
When I was in school, I had "0" hour PE, everyday. Calisthetics, basketball, wrestling or gymnastics for a solid 90 minutes. Those coaches were merciless!
We didn't have Coke or snack machines, at lunch you got a choice of two or three nutritious meals. And if you were hungry before lunch, too bad you just had to wait.

I hate to say it, but the concept of kids these days being offered/given too much just keeps popping up again and again.
This and that "other" thread makes me think that it's a race to see how we can kill our kids the fastest!

And to prove my point, I looked up what my old alma matter is serving for lunch these days! I am mortified!

Things like Chicken Fried Steak, Pizza, Fried Chicken, Chilli Dogs, Cheese Dogs, geesh! No wonder kids are fat!

When I was there we had things like Baked Chicken, Turkey, Salisbury Steak, Baked Fish and lots of vegetables. On Friday they DID offer Grilled Cheese sandwiches.

The link will show the current menu.

I'm taking a full blown aquatics course this year, and it's a pretty strenuous course. I passed my bronze medallion in the summer, but I haven't been swimming since then. I may be really skinny to some people, but I was still out of shape when we were told to do as many widths of the pool in 15 minutes on Tuesday, but I'm slowly gaining my fitness back.

Most of the people who hate Abercrombie or Hollister that are my age hate it for two reasons. One, they think it's too expensive and can't afford it, or two, they can't fit in the clothing. The first myth is not always true. I got my nice fur-lined winter jacket from there this winter for $60, and the original price was $248. Number two, well I don't think there's any real solution for that but exercise.

I like the image that A&F portrays, which is a healthy, and active lifestyle. They actually discontinued making jeans and bottoms in size 36, so hopefully that will encourage more people to get healthy.
