Greg, doesn't the skinny shaft agitator end up having water just at the top of it or over the top of it when filled? I vote for that one at the convention.

Yup - the water level is high enough to just cover the top, with the filter agitator (sans softener dispenser) it sloshes over the top of the chrome filter cap.

Greg ... thanks for posting the Highlander!! I'm looking forward to seeing that machine. I forgot those had dark wash tubs. I LOVE the chrome lint filter and black dispenser cup. A very classic design!!

Could you use this agitator in your push-button Maytag, too? I assume the push-button just has the stainless steel lint filter without the dispenser. Is that right?

Who says performance enhancing drugs are all bad?? This humble Maytag 1966 A906 washer has been given a 50 cycle motor pulley, turning it into a SUPER-Washpower Automatic Washer!

"The Lady Kenmore" range definately has it for me, with the Filter Flow a close second, third would be Maytag , the first Maytag I saw this side of the pond was "the Clampits" must have washed cleaner than the "Ceeeement Pond...LOL

Austin - I can't remember what the OPM is now, I seem to remember hearing that the 50 cycle pulley increased the speed numbers by around 30% +/- but I'm not positive on that...

Mike - Helical drive is simply a shaft that is threaded like a screw or bolt. When motor runs one direction the drive pulley winds up and turns the spin shaft, turning the other direction the pulley winds down the helical 'threads' and drives the agitate/transmission shaft.

I'm thinking Speed Queen probably would tell you they have the longest stroke of all the t/l washers but we've tried to "test" this in the past and found that it wasn't all that accurate.
