Fun direct drives

Their are many DDs with lots of drama. To start with thier were more than 10 models with florescence console lights, many high end models had the triple wash through dispenser systems (the best system ever installed on a TL washer) many also had three speed motors with a fourth choise of intermittent ex low agitation. For even more drama you can models with a real suds-saver that agitates while returning the sudsy wash water. Also look for the fun kenmore cattiest cleaning models that spin and recirulate sudsy wash water at the beginning of the wash cycle (by pass the lid switch to really watch the fun. Thier were also KM & WP models called the resource savers that sprayed fresh water in at full spin speed while recirculating the water out a second flume lots of fun to watch and they worked great. Thier has been at least a dozen different agitators used in DD washers and they all interchange as they say look in your own back yard and grab some of the fun machines out there they will be classics some day. With advancing energy standards the future of TL washers is very uncertain. I have more than 200 hundred classic appliances but just like cars the ones made in the last 25 years make much better daily drivers.

Good Lord--another trip thru washer heaven

I knew about the Catalyst, and saw the action, but had no clue about what went on the in the " Resource Savers" I saw a model on the floor in one of big appliance store in the mid 90's and from what I could deduce from the dial and the enclosed lit, it was a SPRAY RINSE CYCLE ONLY. How I'd love to see it with the giant horse shoe flume spray, I wonder how long the each spray lasted. The Dial span for the rinse looked to be 7 or eight minutes. But I had no idea there was a second flume recirculating the rinse water. that's so gosh darn cool.

John, do you have one of these machines, and could you describe more of the magical goings-on during this Energy Saving Rinse. It was a one year wonder, I think, because after that one time, I never saw it again, and that was before I realized that I could buy a second washer not caring who though I was crazy for doing so. & If I could turn back time & (Cher)

When You have time,,,,,,,Thank You, tall slender genius. NIce time with you on Canton.

The times they are a'changin!

I grew up hearing Inglis/Kenmore washers going woo-woo-woo-woo, then click into drain, then grind-click into spin. Now it's thunka-thunka-thunka-thunka, short pause, drain, klunk and short pause, then spin.

Indeed, Inglis

Wouldn't you love to hear the sounds of the Catalyst wash and the Energy Saving rinse. Imagine the music--and the oddity. No other automatic washer ever offered a rinse conducted entirely through spraying--just like the Easy Spin.

I'd give an eye tooth to see the WP DD Spray rinse ONLY cycle.

"What? What? Tell me more! " OK westingman123

Keith, Just go to your local appliance parts store and ask for either the KA or the Maytag agitator coupler. The appliance stores here have them on display on a display board showing the "superior parts" :-> or some such, of the new Center Dial Tags, which as we all know are Whirlpools.

We got our Mom this machine last Christmas, and to my delight, the accutemp fills alternate the and cold exactly like the 55 pulsamatics, the quick clicks and whooshes are identical. Really Freaky. And on the causual cycle, this machines does the horse shoe 30 second spray rinse FOUR times. A real delight. Casual is the new permanent press.
