Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I agree with you Sean. Give me a timer with specific cycles in the Wirlpool/Kenmore tradition of Normal, Perm Press, Knits/Gentle/Delicate, and Soak/Pre-Wash.

Bob, I found your ideal washer. 5 cycles built into the knob, 5 speed selections, 5 none ATC temps, 3 ATC temps and an extra rinse option!

Of note this Kenmore makes the distinction between gentle and delicate, calling the extra slow / slow speed combo "delicate" which as I stated previously I feel this to be a more accurate name for direct drive washers.

Now for the dryer

Still have some work to do, but here’s what the dryer looks like at the moment. Hoping it’ll work once everything checks out.

Beautiful conversion!

I honestly like the look of these control panels better than the ones that the machine originally had. I think the extra chrome of these later ones really compliments the chrome handles that those machines have. If I hadn’t seen what they looked like before, I would believe that they were factory. Good luck with converting the dryer!

Thanks! It’s going to be somewhat of an undertaking with the dryer, but will be well worth it in the end. Was somewhat reluctant to do this since I thought it was going to be a hodgepodge machine of sorts, but has turned out better than I thought it would. Maybe the timer going out was a blessing in disguise in a way, will run for many more years with this setup

Hope to have this dryer up and running within the next couple of weeks or so, looking forward to having these in service again this upcoming summer.

Still have to do a little more work (wiring, mounting the moisture sensor board, mount a momentary toggle switch to the speed selector for the dual heating elements) but here’s what the dryer looks like. Should be operational again within the next couple of weeks or so.

Chet, thank you. Friends from church had this exact model in the 1990s. Neutral drain had already bit the dust by then. I used to drool over this washer, wishing the Lady Shredmore had initially been this exact model rather than the initial 1986 DD version.

Welcome. I wouldn't mind having this exact washer either. 3 speed motors complimented direct drives perfectly. With ATC, DAs, soak, prewash, half tub PP cool down and auto second rinse you had everything you needed for laundry day.
