Though not a sport fan, I have been reading the stories about Miami Dolphin's GM asking a player if his mother was a prostitute. "Why did this GM ask 'prostitute' question?" on MSN

Now my guess is the player looked familiar and he was asking that question to determine if he could be his Daddy.

I am so bad. Don't say anything, I'll put myself in the naughty corner.

Your mind isn't sick,

We've just gone completely off the rails in the US.

If I told Nero once, I told him multitudinous times: Do not leave the lions out in the arena overnight. They'll catch their death of cold and then where will we be?
But would he listen?

I still say we need to have mandatory classes in High School:

Learning to act with class
Basic hygience and personal grooming. (This is soap, this is water, this a a razor, this is a tootbrush and this is deodorant. Here, we change our underwear and shower every day........)
Manners
Social Graces
Etiquette
Phraseology:

1- It ain't "Can I get..." in a store, it is "May I please have...'.

2- It aint "Not a problem" it is "You are welcome" . it ain't "YEAH, no". Better is "Agreed, but my thought is...."

3- Sentences that start "No, you are wrong", need to start with "Actually, in my opinion.....

And for Buddah's sake teach anger management courses and how to sublimate intense emotions. If your only range of emotions is intense anger and elation, you have a problem that needs to be fixed. JEEZ.......

Its the parents fault!

If they got their asses busted like I did when they were little, when they did wrong, they would have learned,I could see myself saying something in public that would have embarrased my parents, the next sound you would hear was that belt!!

Toggleswitch...

...when we do 'manners' could we also include 'how to eat with a knife and a fork'?

I was astounded during my law enforcement career, in the police academy, at how these kids used forks. (They didn't seem to use knives or spoons, and the forks were used rather like shovels). And this was a mixed gender class.

Continental or American, there are appropriate ways to use knives, forks, and spoons. (Okay, I can't use a fish knife either but you know what I mean :) )

When I was not quite three

we were food shopping. I grabbed something off a bottom shelf. My mother said:
Put it back.
I ripped it open.
Got my pants dropped, my rear end spanked, the opened box was paid for, everything else left standing and we had oatmeal for dinner for three days, that I might learn not to behave that way.

It worked.

Try that with a "time-out".
