Fasten your seatbelts!! It's going to be another vacuum gathering at Tarantula Arms in St. Charles. Anyone in the area is welcome to visit, just send me an email at [email protected]. Vacuum fanatics start arriving tomorrow (Thursday) and will continue arriving through Saturday evening. Confirmed attendees will be myself (of course) Charlie Watrous, Terry Lattz, Mark Thomas, our own Miss Tania Voight, Fred Stachnik, Jeff (Hooverland)Parker and assorted other guests (forgive me if I didn't mention your name.)

Let me know if you want me to post pictures. We will have a traditional show and tell. That's one of the beauties of vacuums, they are easily transportable. And, if successful, will have news of a potential cache of vintage machines, new in the boxes. Stay tuned.

Fred

If there isn't a picture of

Jeff in the apron pushing a Dial-a-Matic, I will be deeply disappointed!

Hope you all have a great time.

Don't worry..

I'm sure someone will be wearing an apron while vacuuming, loading a dishwasher, or running a washing machine at some point during the weekend... Does it have to be a Dial-A-Matic? :)

as for me, I am really looking forward to it. I know a great time will be had by all!!

to whom it may concern...

if everything goes as planned TONIGHT (wed night/thur morn) im getting together with my co-worker vincent and we are gonna give my Hoover mdl 63 its first real workout at an apartment hes vacating. he is the only one of my coworkers (straight) who has taken an interest in my cleaners. ive already sold him a royal (he loves it) and GIVEN him a polished Hoover guardsman (with matching red DVC BAG). cant wait to see what happens... David

DAM vs. Convertible

Well, let's see, assuming that Charlie brings the apron, you have your choice as to which convertible or DAM is used. I have them all the way from the beautiful pink 65 (thanks Fred S) to much later convertibles including a god-awful green one with a psychedelic bag (if Mark Thomas brings back the hood!) DAMs range from the original 1100 to a powerdrive. State your preference. You can also see a very rare and unusual hovering Constellation 87 in green with the air switch on the hose. It's VERY unusual in that the switch still works. I am kind of nervous about Fred S. letting me keep it for a while and will take very good care of it.

Don't be nervous..

Fred-

Of course I know you'll take good care of it!

But...

Adapting it to fit the situation, a line from "Fried Green Tomatoes"

Face it, I know you're older and have more insurance.

*ducks and runs*

{GASP}

I just read the above post... my co-workers are wondering what I am gasping about!!!

Better being a sleeping bag Taffy, you'll be sleeping in the garage!

You'll Be The One Needing Insurance!!

Health insurance that is!! I don't mind being referred to as "well insured" it's the "older" part you need to watch out for. Jeff, at this rate he'll be lucky to get the garage.

By The Way Jeff

Come prepared to help uncrate move the turquoise Frigidaire frig, oven, cooktop, sink and KDS 15 dishwasher!! They are in the garage in giant boxes.

You know...

Fred, darling...

I meant what I said with love.. :) And, I don't understand what you mean by the older thing..? I mean, I'm 23, and you--at most, what? 35?

I'll also assist in un-crating and moving the above mentioned turquoise appliances. After all, I figure I can sleep in one of the crates...

Helen Lawson reporting in from Tarantula Arms....

Hello my vacuum sweeties. Yes, I'm here at the biggest trailer in the court and have the whole place to myself till Ida's broom alights around 7:30ish.

I've finished going through every closet, dresser and locked cabinet on the 1st and 2nd floors. And the items I have found---I'm astonished and shocked! (A few things even found their way into my Louis Vitton steamer trunk!)

The "apron" did not make the trip as Velma Carrothers, Jr., needed it to maintain my Pickfair South home while I'm in hiding in St. Charles.

I've got some juicy plans cooked up and I'm sure you will get a full rendition with photos during and after our mini-meet. Ida did forget to mention that Morgan Frazer is attending too. (Whoops! Pour Ida another little drinky..........)

Now it's back to tearing the place apart while playing with several hundred vacuums!

Racing Home?

The race home will not be concluded until Ida stops at "Sidney's" and has the works including waxing.

Jimmy has not been located yet but I have not finished going through everything yet! I'll have to post some pictures of some of the items I have found.

It's admirable that your helping an aging friend by cleaning out their closets and cabinets for them. It's best though that they not find out as that sometimes leads to a fear that they can no longer "keep house" properly anymore and may have to go to a nursing home. In doing so myself I have often found the friends lost jewellry or valuable coins fallen through the heating vents in the bedroom but could never understand how they got thru the grillwork all wrapped up in felt and ziplock bagged. Again it's best not to say anything but take the items home for safekeeping. That's what friends are for.

about that apron shot

I have an apron that has that has the statue david on it that would REALLY look great on Jeff Parker!!! (okay i said it) I realy wish i lived closer to you guys so that i could make it to those mini conventions! have a great time all of you.

Sounds like I may need to be the referee!

Bags are packed, vacuums ready, and were off to St Charles, I hope everyone is still alive when I get there. I hope little Fred has good running shoes... it is supposed to get really cold this weekend.. sleeping in the garage could be cold.

Terry you are arriving before me, leave a signal if it is safe to enter... possibly an apron hanging in a window...

nah, not a vacuum bag fight...

They'll be doing each other's nails, sipping wine and watching "Mildred Pierce"
