These are great old cleaners and with a bit of TLC could run for many more years.
I am convinced that, if I live to around 90 years old, I will still see these on ebay and still working. The bag is not original in any case, and if spares are not available in the US, there are plenty in the UK. Oh and its missing its very distinctive orange footswitch They clean really well and, although maybe not the most convenient in terms of use of hose (although the suction will equal that of any of the post "coffee can" Hoovers) otherwise it will give any modern cleaner a good run for its money

Bagging an Old One

My sense is that Hoover must have had a stronger dominence over the UK market than here in the US.  Not to say Hoover isn't popular here  but its one of many fighting for a spot in the closet.  Thank you so much for you input.  I am an avowed canister guy but my experiences with the Windtunnel have been extremely positive.  I have the latest Hoover Platinum bagged cleaner that looks like a dressed up Oreck.  Its performance on carpets is nothing less than amazing.  There is a very thin plastic shroud inside the housing that covers the brush roll.  Power was dropping and when I looked the shroud was broken allowing a huge loss of suction.  I glued it but it's apparent it won't be one of the 70 year old Hoovers showing up on ebay in another 65 years.
