Old Kenmore Dryer...

It's one of the "Match All" models. If it's an early one, it has a timer, soft heat and a perforated drum back. If it's later, it could have the solid bulkhead at the back of the drum and electronic auto dry which is great. I have the gas soft heat with 37.5K BTU burner and timed dry which is very fast since John put felt seals behind the drum to keep the hot air from going behind the drum instead of through the drum. The electric model which is now in the Museum has the electric version of soft heat and it is also very fast because of the more efficient solid bulkhead drum and the double element electric soft heat only cycles the large heating element while keeping the 1400 watt heater on so the heat stays up instead of dropping so much before the big element cycles back on and then, as the load dries, it has only the 1400 watts of heat before going into cool down so it is the soft heat principle. Wonderful dryers, both of them.
I have the owners manual for this dryer...

Match all Kenmore dryer
I’m going to bet that this is a 69 or 70 model, here are pictures of a 1968 model that I just brought into our shop that’s going to go to one of our new members

Through some miracle i bagged this tonight.
It was sittng in plain sight in the short driveway of a house in a suburb of San Diego (as you see below) for weeks, along with a newer less interesting dryer. The newer one was snagged this evening before i came along.
Back story: I contacted someone after seeing an ad on Facebook for two dryers. She stopped getting back to me when i said, “i only wanted the old looking one.” She replied, “must take both,” and promply fell off the planet.
Then apparently someone else in the household more reasonable posted it, and somehow after 5 days i found the ad, because i rarely look for dryers. I then made a beeline up here after he finally txted me the address.
It was a longish drive so i arranged another item. Writing this whilst sitting at a Starbucks waiting for the owner of a Simplicty vacuum to get home and sell it to me. Then i roll home.
Night time appliance fun.

That lady who sold me the vacuum?
Why it was just a few years ago I came out to this same part of San Diego one night looking to buy an old Hoover Concept I vacuum. Turned out the machine was too beaten up for me to bother with at her price, offered half, she declined...
Yup you guessed it, SAME LADY.
That Hoover still sits in her garage of wonderous junk.
The standard Simplicity vacuum design is one of my favorites. So despite the taped up cord (not visible in the pic she sent me) I paid her price.

First year of the solid drum back, I have a '65 RCA Whirlpool with the perforated drum back and bearing instead of the rollers as a daily use machine, works well.

This is a very heavily built great performing dryer with real dual element Soft-Heat, this is definitely worth rebuilding for someone that must have an electric dryer. This dryer will dry circles around any other dryer built up to this time period and almost all dryers since.
This dryer is older than the one I posted pictures of above, the one I have is 1968, but feature wise it is the same.

I well remember that this dryer was billed as the all american dryer in the Sears catalog back in the day. It was a dryer that would blend in with whatever washer someone might have already.

Nice! Glad you were able to save it! These are not difficult to work on and there are lots of parts still out there. Heck, even the onese I've rebuilt are still running... LOL
