"Old" LG and new SQ AFN50

Just a quick note to accomplish a couple of things. First, I will from this point on never buy another LG product. I purchased an LG FL three years ago. It was one of their "higher" end models and we paid better thank $1k for it. Three years later it quit spinning. Diagnosis, bearing failure. Estimate for repair $600! Good bye forever LG!

Based on what I read here I went to a local appliance store and bought the SQ AFN50R. My wife looked like she was going to pass out when they told us how much it would cost! lol. In actuality our local store's price was pretty competitive with the internet prices I'd seen and they hauled the old, P.O.S. LG off for me. Good riddance.

The installers were pretty clueless though. They didn't remove the shipping devices (shock stops and brace). I was a bit worried with how much the thing was vibrating until I realized that! lol.

Anyway, I'm hopeful about the longevity of the SQ based on what I've read here. It's already a good start with the 3 year warranty, basically three times the others.

Wish me luck because if the SQ fails I'm going to have some type of a cardiac event from being so mad! lol.

Longevity

We used the Speed Queen home addition in a 15 unit apartment I managed and you couldn't even begin to describe the abuse of too much soap and other antics the tenants came up with. It was installed in 2009 and it's still running without it's first repair. The trap has gotten full a few times but I don't consider that a performance issue.

But as they are basically laundromat machines the cycle choices (or lack thereof) cannot make up for the larger capacity and build quality to make them a daily driver. Maybe for as long as the Miele holds out it would do, but need more options to customise than what is offered.

Also am not sure about how well those two or three pulse spins between rinses are for removing detergent.

Rinses are effective with proper dosing

In my experience the final rinse is clear of soap and in fact overall performance is excellent. If I had a criticism it is with respect to the delicate cycle where for small and lightweight items the basket speed doesn't seem appropriate.

While there might be good reasons to critique SQ's product placement or feature-set decisions, I don't know of any credible evidence that would lead a person to say or much less be able to prove that SQ's products are anything less than robust.

Put a modern WP, MT or GE machine next to a SQ machine in a college dorm, rental housing or any other tough-duty situation and the machine that lives is the winner.
