I loved these old Woolworths ads from 1981.My favorite year ever. Look at that Bontempi Organ and the twin deck casette player. Just classic. Does anyone remember the other version of this advert, same song different year with the Nolan sisters???? I remember it gets in your head and you cant stop humming it , lol

I think Marks n Spencers are entertaining us nicely this year with Shirley Bassey but Woolworths manage a near 2 min advert which is more or less unheard of these days!!

Very neat! The big Woolworth logo threw me at first, I didn't recognize it, then I saw the prices expressed in pounds and that you were from the UK. I had NO idea Woolworth was an international affair.

Oh, yeah, big time. I remember them in Germany when I was a kid.

They also have them in Australia and South Africa, I believe.

A little different, though....not five-and-tenish, like ours...

More food-oriented.

We still have

Woolworths the Fresh Food People, however they are 95% food based. There is some variety items, but the matching variety store to Woolworths is Big W. Woolworths is one of two main grocery chains in Australia, the other is Coles. (Originally called Coles New World)

In some states Woolworths is called Safeway. From memory, Woolworths was the first Drive in Market (Shopping Centre) in Australia, back in 1964.
