I want to point out that this set does not have the small lip around the top of them that keeps water from running off and over the side. That is a characteristic that all the machines made by Raytheon have. It is just possible that this washer could be a solid tub model. It also has the side opening lid also. The speed queen set that I bought for my parents looked very similar to this one and was a solid tub machine. The dryers had already changed to this design before the washers changed to a perforated tub. It would have been around 1980, possibly 1979.
Amana sourced these machines around 1980 on. Amana had side-opening lids, SQ went to all back-opening lids. Not sure why they did it this way unless simply to differentiate themselves from SQ. They are all perforated tub, SQ no longer made any solid tub washers after 1979-80. An aunt had this same machine bought about 1981'ish.
Here's the same washer I had a few years back. Recirculating filter, decent washing, mediocre spin (about 600) and wastes a shocking amount of water by spraying into the filter ring at the top of the basket, not on the clothes, during the too-long spray rinse. And it's loud. Other than that...
I guess the set I got for my parents was the last year of the solid tub design. Had to have been about '79. They looked almost exactly the same as the ones made right after that with perforated tubs. Just the lip around the edge of the machine was flat and of course the lid opened to the back.
