Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Mid to later 70's models. I believe that washer is only 24 inches wide; as it looks a bit narrower than the 29 inch dryer. Relatives of mine had the 29 inch version of that washer. The dryer they had was a little different. Similar control panel, but full width door.

Have a good one,

Looks to me like a direct drive washer, but the pic is not clear enough for me to be sure (they used the same panels on many early DD models, even on some early to mid-90s models but those had the black rubber/plastic knobs). The lids are much larger on a DD model. If that machine is indeed a DD, it probably has the short-lived clothes guard at the top of the basket, like filter-flo GEs had.

The dryer is a 29-inch model. The only other alternative in Kenmore in those days was a 24-inch model, which was very rare.

I'm pretty sure it's a belt drive. I could be wrong, but looking at the console, (and this involved me using a magnifying glass) I detected that the control panel part of the console was raised just a little above the rest of the console along the top, and that the face of the panel had a little bit of a silvery glint. This matches a model that was popular between 1972, and 1975. Again my assessment may be faulty, as I have low vision. I hope somebody gets them and gives them a home.

Have a good one,
James

James -

The mid-80s direct drive BOL and near BOL washers used the same identical panel, however I can't see the lid that well either and that's really the only way I know of to tell the two apart.

Have a good weekend!
