I"m homesick for my Litton

Seeing that Litton makes me homesick for the one I had--exactly just like that, but was the 1.5 cu. ft. cavernous Meal-In-One version.  The absolute best microwave I've ever used!!  Extremely even cooking.  Didn't need no stupid turntable to make sure your food cooked evenly.  That which is displayed is like a 1977 or 1978 model.  1976 at the very earliest.  Lasted me 24 years of constant daily use of real COOKING, not just reheat or steaming vegetables.

We had the similar litton but without the dial, just a switch for defrost. I've wanted one of those Panasonics for along time It's called the Sky Lite. I certainly don't want one bad enough to pay those kind of prices.

I have the GE convection model that you have pictured here.  I use it off and on.  It is now off and in the garage wrapped up.  I always have two Convection / Microwaves in use in the kitchen at all times.  I have quite a few so  I change them out.  They all get used however.

It is a great Microwave / Convection Oven.  If you ever see one cheap and clean buy it.  You won't be disappointed.

My Guess....

....On the card reader is that it was a magnetic-strip card, similar to credit cards. I'm thinking that the microwave was capable of both card reading and card recording.

It might have been a great idea if microwaves were actually used for cooking. Even in the '70s and '80s, relatively little of that went on. The feature just wasn't something many people needed.

Not pretty like an Amana

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  Given I intensely dislike today's all stainless steel look.  There was always something I didn't really like all that much with the look of many Amanas.  And it just occurred to me.  So many had that all metal look.  A premonition of what is today's all stainless steel look?  Cold and institutional.  I'd rather look at the "color" of faux wood and black.    But they are durable.

Yes, I had a meal-in-one model.  "entry level" that was all mechanical rather than touch panel.  the meal-in-one design was the reason why it cooked so evenly when cooking one item.  When I acquired my MW, I had moved work location to a very sterile environment with very few lunch options and there was no cafeteria.  My apartment was 2 blocks from work.  I began having lunch for about 6 or 8 people 3 or 4 days a week.  I'd prepare the meal the night before.  The meal-in-one allowed me to pretty much put all of lunch in the microwave at once and reheat everything simultaneously in 10-15 minutes.   Hence why I have so much microwave-safe larger pieces, could get a certain combination of pieces in the microwave at the same time to reheat.

Cool Vintage MW Ovens

That Panasonic SkyLite MW oven is fun but only worth about $50 at best, I found one at a thrift store in Minnesota fot about $25 a few years ago.

Litton had some pretty good MW ovens in the 70s, I worked for a Litton MW service agency in 1978 as a technician repairing Litton MWs along with several other brands.

At the Museum we have a Hi-low Litton range that not only has a MW oven on top with a built-in ventilation system, but it also has a Self-Cleaning combination MW conventional oven below, as far as I know it is the only appliance ever to incorporate TWO MW OVENS in one appliance, I was once told they only sold a few hundred of these ranges.

It was just too far ahead of most peoples thinking, Both my brother Jeff and I each have three MW ovens in our kitchens, we both have a Self-Cleaning Micro-Combination oven as one of them, actually my friend Tom also has about the same setup. I would think any well equipped kitchen should have a minimum of two MWs with at least one being a combination unit.

Pansonic $25?

What a tremendous find. I have never seen that Panasonic anywhere, except in photos - so unusual.

700watts?
