I'm Sticking With Virgin Mobile

I don't use my cell that often, so I've had Virgin Mobile since 2002. It's cheap ($15 card added to my account automatically every few months); the reception is good and service is top-notch. I've lost my VM phone twice and each time, I've received a new (and better phone) for just a few dollars.
Highly recommended for those who prefer pay-as-you-go.

Have the unlimited plan with Sprint for $99 a month. Use 2 - 3,000 minutes a month with unlimited text messaging, 1/2 for work, and 1/2 for personal.

Don't use mine much at all, mainly for company use. I only have it on when I am not at home. If I am home, it sits in the battery charger, off.
I am with Verizon and it's $59.95 per month for 400 minutes.
I have told friends that I only use it when I am not at home, but they still seem to call it anyway and try to leave long playing messages on it. I usually don't listen to the messages as it is unwieldy to retrieve them. I just look at the call list for "missed calls" and call those back.

I have an IPhone and probably don't use the phone part more than once a week. I think I have 400 minutes a month and about 4,000 in my rollover minutes (the boy in the commercial would be mortified about my old minutes LOL). I always wished I could transfer them to my former co-worker who has 4 kids.

I don't like the phone much (too intrusive and constricting) and would much rather communicate by text or email. I contact businesses by phone only as a last resort or if it's the only means available. It's almost like a bygone era thing to me, even though it seems some folks still use the phone quite a bit. With all the technology we have now, I just don't see much use for it. Plus, I never seem to get anyone when I do try and call and just wind up leaving messages anyway. That said, I am quite happy to have people exercise the ability to let calls roll if it's a bad time.

The best thing about an Iphone for me is it's basically a mini computer, but if I do need the phone for some reason, you have it. It costs more than regular cel phone service but I get a much better value because I use the internet and texting constantly, where just a phone I hardly use.

If Blackberry/Iphone type stuff were not available, I would get something like a prepaid Virgin phone, its all I'd ever need.

i've got a blackberry from Verizon

i love it

Usualy our bill is like 500 dollars a month. but thats because we only have like 700 minutes a monthe to share between 5 people.

i have a 1500 limited text messaging and i always seem to go over it

but verizon is the only company that kinda gets service up where i am, and its our fault the bill is so high

but i like it so im stickin with it

lolz

I have AT&T,
I have the 39.99 plan with no free texting
I have like 3700 roll over minutes, and if I text it is only to one of the girls from work when we go out.
I maybe use about 200-250 min a month and they are mostly the free night and Weekend minutes.

never!!!

my cell phone was chewed up by this wild beast last year!

i never replaced it and to be honest don't miss it a bit!

silence is golden!

Mine has become imperative for work, in that I do some field work and some office work.
I spend weekends out-of-state, with the cell-phone I can still be reached.
I can be reached during the day (at work) without one having to go thero the reciptionst/swtichboard.
Likewise hmy home-use landline is now just mostly a relic and a phone number to givce bankers, creditors amnd businesses who IMO should not have my cellular number.
I've even gotten a trasitional old-fashined handset that fits into the heasdet jack so that I don't have to have all that radiation at my ear/head.
I'd be lost now without my cellphone which I only reluctantly wanted when I first got one years ago.

I have a wonderful old plan, with my employer discount it's $23 for 250 minutes/3500 night and weekend. I come very close most months (could probably use 50 more minutes) but don't need double the minutes which are the existing retail plans. Paradoxical, but cellphones are my business....I just can't pay more than that. I had an unlimited phone when i was in the field from 1992-1995 (which was very early and a bit odd when $25 got you zero minutes) then when I worked at BellSouth from 1998-2000 had an unlimited Blackberry (again, way before those became anything but a souped-up beeper) but no phone.

Im on this......

Just short of £20 ($30) a month for 800 any network fixed or mobile mins, 800 text messages(I have the non online version) and free unlimited anytime calls to other O2 mobiles.

I also get unlimited anytime landline calls on my fixed line lol........

I get 600 mins anytime any network mins, unltd texts, free mobile broadband and i got a free phone for 17.50 a month with vodafone, they were going to give me a free wii thing but opted for cheaper long term lime rental. i gorra admit though i have had vodafone for 11 years and never had a problem with either the reception (even in the the penines) and customer service is pretty good aswell..

Chance,

Doesn't VZ offer an unlimited plan where you are? I just took a quick look on our local VZ Wireless website, and they offer 5 lines with a variety of minutes and features starting at $180/mo (700 minutes). You can bump that to 3000 minutes, free nights/weekends, free VZ to VZ wireless calls, unlimited text, and free calls to 10 friends and family numbers that you specify for $260/mo. All the above w/ 4000 minutes is $310.

Rich and I have a shared plan for $70/mo w/550 minutes, free VZ to VZ, free cell/home calling, free n/w. We haven't gone over and both use our phones pretty freely. But, with Ron's cell being VZ, being to call each other free, and being able to call home (or home to cell) free, that was most of our calling before this plan!

I started up with MetroPCS about 2 years ago, when I was faced with a new 25 mile commute that involved the Bay Bridge interchange. It helped to be able to check the traffic.

Now I have a 3 mile commute and there is so much wiring and machinery in my workplace that the phone doesn't work at my desk or machine. But that's ok, since they don't allow cell phone use during work time anyway.

Mostly I take it out to charge it up... lol... which seems to need charging every night, even with new batteries.

My monthly bill is about $56, which includes voicemail, unlimited long distance, unlimited texting, 411, picture messaging, and internet access. I could go cheaper by dropping features but still have LD... which I might do some time.

I kept my landline phone (it gets me DSL) but any calls out of my local zone go with the cell. It's also handy during crises and emergencies.

$35/month Cingular->AT&T. Phone only, no voicemail, I have texting blocked, no Internet, and never use it for pictures. I make calls sparingly, the calling plan is regional-limited, 200 Anytime mins, 1000 nights/weekends mins per billing cycle. I guess I'm paranoid about it though. Checking just now, I have 119 Anytime mins left and 980 weekend, with 9 days left in the billing cycle.

I've had T-mobile since 2002 and have been pretty happy with them. I currently have the T-mobile Wing which is a PDA phone with a touch screen and slide out keyboard. I can use my phone as a modem as well and connect it to my computer to get online if I need to. The total bill is 107 a month with completely unlimited minutes (used to pay the same price for 1500 minutes, but several months ago T-mobile upgraded me to the unlimited plan for being "loyal" for so long), unlimited text, and unlimited internet access. I want to upgrade to the Touch Pro 2, but I will not buy it from T-mobile. When I upgraded from my MDA to the Wing, they charged me a 20 dollar "upgrade fee"... like they weren't already making a profit on the 349.99 dollar price of the phone! I only went over once... I was dating a jerk who insisted I call him after I wake up, on the way to work, after I got off work, before going to sleep... he wanted to make sure I wasn't with another man... I went over by several hundred minutes and the bill was like 400 dollars. I would have made the jerk pay it, but by the time the bill came I had realized how controlling and insecure he was and had stopped talking to him. I made him really angry the day I told him I was going to take a just to myself and turn the phone off and not talk to anyone... and we weren't even together when all this happened, we were just "talking".

I talk maybe an hour a day and send about 15 or so texts while I'm bored at work or something. I don't have a home phone at all since I have the cell phone, and I used to use it for my online access on the home computer before I decided I must have high speed. I use the internet on the phone more than the phone itself. Really nice for reading the news while on the john (j/k, though I thought about taking it to the tub once... didn't want to drop it in as clumsy as I am), or checking movie times while at a restaurant before the movie, or looking up a special ingredient or recipe while at the supermarket (I've done that many times!).

We better be careful, we could start a real debate by asking who talks on the phone while driving and if you use bluetooth or not!

Toggles, I'd be interested to know where you got a traditional handset to plug into the cell phone... I may look into that!

My boyfriend has the Iphone, but I don't like only having virtual keys. I prefer tactile feedback from real buttons...
