Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Richard

Love that English Electric Liberator dryer and Burco D3 (is it a D3?).

What is the model of Hoovermatic - I am trying to garner model number info on Hoovermatics now as well.

OMG, after the wash-in I attended, I think I have been bitten by th twintub bug as well now.

How is the big brute Bendix LT doing?

Cheers Paul

A Hotpoint Princess.

I am assuming that this is a MkI version as there was another later version with the controls in a strip across the front, in the place of the HOTPOINT name badge on the machine below.

Hotpoint Princess

Hi Paul, Good to see you still have the Mk3 Lavalux twin tub, i thought you might have got rid of it, due to the leaking !! I had one of these many years ago, which i picked up from Bristol, but sadly had to let it go, as it had some serious rust & leaking, but i luv the rinse & fill arm, i think that was one of the only parts i kept from the machine which i had.
Like ya Hoovermatic 3174 (1957 /1st)hope your having some "splash-matic" fun with it.
The Hotpoint Princess you were referring to, was the 2nd model, launched about 1960 (apprx) the model with the 4 buttons along the front on a strip, was the first Princess, and was launched in 1955.
If you need any help with regards to the "twin tub" market in the UK between late 50's to late 60's, just ask away.
Regards
Keith

Well I have been on a fresh trawl....

a while back there was a shortlived thread on Zanussi's and someone identified a mystery semi integrated front loader for me.

Well there is one available on ebay right now.

and an unusual Hotpoint.

The 1535W special produced exclusively for Comet and based on the 95130/95132 new generation machines.

Was also sold as the English Electric 1535W.

A bit pricey though methinks!

OMG -- That Last unusal Hotpoint!

I have been looking for that one for god only knows how long! My friend had one when I was growing up, used to make him sit and watch it with me ;-)

I was beginning to think I was going loopy, I specifically remember the shape of the dial, and the colour of the door and controls! AN awesome machine regardless of its rust!

the garage

Hi cuffs054

The photo you asked about is my garage which hold extra things i cannot display, There is a june 1950 electrolux fridge which is an absorbtion silent model which works although a little power hungry and 2 hoover 119 juniors which are spares. The garage is at my Dads house and i have a room at his with about 20 more vacs and 30 radio record players etc but its all a bit jumbled. My main vacs are at my house but not really photographed yet. This was earlier this year and yes thats me !

WD9091i

Oh man! I lost out on the toy washing machine but this one is too far away for me! It was me who identified it hehe. Used to love how quiet the machine was. The drying on it was pretty poor though.

Grey 262??

Hey Rick

The grey Hoover on the shelf behind you appears to be a factory? refurb 262!

Any chance of some close ups??

Seamus

Hoover - The Product of Experience...!!

Hi guys...

Seamus you went straight to the same thing as I did...now that looks like a classic refurb, Ricky, you have to give us more, you cant tease us like that!!!...I must admit it looks quite classy in grey/white...

That Hotpoint is dying the usual Hotpoint death, crap paint job on anotherwise classic machine....

The AEG is a Euro Classic, very fast at drying, unfortunately, you could also bake a cake in their as well, the next model was a lot better for thermo temp drying, lovely washers though, and designed to last..

Hi Keith , another "Dream Machine" now off your list, and a nice little bargain as well, look forward to hearing all about it, thanks for the info about these machines, I was always led to believe that the dial machine was the first one!!!

I picked up the Hotpoint 1509 (best bargain I`ve ever had 99p)not bad condition, but needs a re-build, the lady owner sent extra pics and I was hoping , BUT, took the agi out and noticed uneven corrosion, and then the new boot was loose, Alpha dave is gonna give us a lesson in a re-build, soon we`ll be washing soon I hope...

Paul, keep up the grand work, all these classics coming out of the woodwork, Nowthen, How do I Make My Garage work Like a TARDIS...!!answers on a postcard please..

Happy Hunting Everyone, Mike

How do Mike.

You will have to see if Alpha Dave is willing to do weekend evening classes - I need a major refresher course in all things mechanical. The stuff I learnt when I was a kid helping, if that is the right word!, my dad repair the families various machines, has all gone out the window.

I sent you an e-mail last night with another guess at what that other Hoover mystery machine is, that MT saw (two years ago unfortunately). Give him an e-mail - I am sure he wouldn't mind discussing the pro's and cons of his storage situation.

Next top to bottom ebay trawl this weekend, although if I see anything juicy in the meantime I will let you guys know.

Cheers
Paul
p.s David (dubstar85) - you sure you dont fancy an 80's Zanussi washer dryer. with a nice panel on the front it would suit any kitchen!

Hoover 262

Hi Mike and Seamus, The hoover 262 i think is indeed a hoover refurb, i got it at the local tip for £3.00 it has been resprayed white with the bakelite hood being painted grey , but has a grey rubber handle cover , bumper guard and ribbed grey flex. It is in very good working order and speeds up quicker than the later 612 and has a more light easy to move feel with a modern sounding motor if you know what i mean it almost feels turbo power ish!

Richard
