I wish it were that simple...
I have an acquaintance who is a life-long alcoholic (in his 30's now). He cheerfully admits it; he embraces it. He says he can put away an 18-pack of beer in one evening, on a regular basis, and there are witnesses to prove it.
Unfortunately it's all catching up with him. He recently got busted for a DUI (single vehicle accident). Lost his license for a year, and still has criminal charges to face. So he's riding his bicycle to/from work. But now since he can't easily carry an 18 pack home every night, he stops off at bars on the way home from work, and has fallen twice off his bike and injured himself. I figure it's just a matter of time before he gets busted for drunk in public or worse (a bicycle DUI) and winds up doing jail time.
The problem is, so far, is that he doesn't want to stop drinking. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
