I have to agree with you about Cincinnati and the chili. Have made a couple trips there just recently and fell in love with Skyline Chili. I got the four-way. We don't have it in this part of Ohio as far as I know, but have seen Cincinnati style chili on menus.
Planning another trip in maybe two weeks. Will get the chili again for sure. Will have to try your recipe too. BTW made the pork chops last night and they were delicious!

I love love love Cincinnati chili! I ate it almost every day when I went over there for the first time. Skyline was just down the street from my grandmas house.

I first had Cincinnati Chili in our high school cafeteria--no joke, it was good as was a lot of the food served there; they had good cooks. Thanks for the recipe and I'm enjoying your blog! I love the town as well, but I have to say the chili I had there wasn't so great; we picked a mediocre restaurant for it.

Joe-In_phlly sent me a season packet with recipe as well as a differnt source, a can of meat sauce to make this twice. I absolutely loved it. I did 4 way and 5 way chili. But I made it with whole-wheat spaghetti.

Skyline Chilli

When i go home to KY I like to try and drive up the extra hour to Louisville to eat at Skyline chili. Here in Nashville we don't have it and it's one of the things I miss.

Greater's

I LIVE 2 blocks from the Greater's plant! The Kentucky locations were all franchise locations, and the franchisee had issues and closed. The company is still alive and well here in Cincinnati.

The 2 main Chili parlor companies are Gold Star and Skyline. Folks here are fans of one or the other, like Coke vs. Pepsi, or Chevy vs. Ford. The debate can get intense, so here's what I think:

Skyline is like Coke (they serve Coke too). It's all good!
Gold Star is like Pepsi (and they serve Pepsi too), only fit for consumption if there isn't any Coke.

Also, I drive neither a Chevy, nor a Ford, I have an ancient Volvo, which is better than either Coke or Pepsi.
