Ms Tomlin, played a fantastic part as Dr. Selma Dritz, in "The Band Played On". filmed in 1993, i always thought she brought a lot of info to the mainstream, with that one. I always loved her on "Laugh In", I was a 9 year old and had to beg Mom to let me watch it, the first few times.

I always enjoyed her Ernestine character best out of any of them. Ernestine is SO stuck in the 1940's!

I'm old enough to remember when "Ma Bell" was exactly like Tomlin portrays. Omnipotent. She is spot on with her portrayal of a typical telephone company customer rep. Then divestiture happened,and I'm sure it was devistating for Ernetine.

I remember it too, but I really think it was 40 years ago, Laugh-In ran in the late 60's, so '68 to 2009 --> 41 years.

Saw Lilly on some show a few months back, she looks great for her age. In fact September 1 is her 70th birthday!
