Tide regular detergent with a dose of Downy April fresh a load of white towels and hung outside for 2 days. In the sub zero weather and blowing in the wind, just brought them in and folded them. The scent is heavenly. Nothing can compare. Have done 3 loads of towels and hung them out this week. I guess I am hardcore. Sheets and towels get hung out year round. I know my mother is smiling down on me. She would hang clothes out year round also. She used the dryer only when we had numerous days when it was raining. I use it for all other clothing all the time.

And not to mention the freezing on the hands too. I hung laundry out once in the winter and that was it ..once! My hands were so cold...and yes I tried to hang the clothes out with mittens and gloves on but it was a pain. In the winter I just open the window behind my dryer and let the air flow into the dryer as it runs. I get the same effect. And on a day like today where the dewpoint is -7 which is bone dry air...it doesnt take long for the dryer to dry the clothes.
