Danke schön!

Well got the dosage nearly correct since 4 tbsp equals 1/4 cup was off by just 2 tablespoons. Still one added 5 grams of STPP and one Vanish stain tablet (sold here as Spray n Wash "Pink" in wash tabs), so am good.

Methinks will try washing some towels next to see what there is. Just luuuuuve the scent.

This thread has groooooooown...

Okay, here some information:

Don't be "tricked" by the word Universal. Henkel just kept that expression to make it different from the other versions.

Universal just means, that it is the detergent for WHITES. It has one of the strongest bleaching power as German Consumer reports (Stiftung Warentest) found out in several tests. So I would definitely NOT use it for colored laundry. Black socks will turn into grey within 20 washes. Nevertheless it is recommended to use once on colored items if there happen to be quite tough stains on those.

So there are other versions beside the Universal one: There are:

- Persil Color (all colored laundry)
- Persil Sensitive (for people with sensitive skin)
- Persil Black (only liquid, for black items and Jeans) --> just a marketing gag in my opinion

Moreover there are different "versions" like powder (non-concentraded), Megaperls (concentraded), liquid, Tabs (only Persil Universal) an very new MegaCaps (or liquitabs).

Persil gets reformulated like once a year but at least every 2 years. So it gets other names (anti-grey formula, cold-wash-active, super brilliant-formula and so on). Have a look at the website, I think it is very clear and "tidied-up".

I have almost no white clothing, other than several white dress shirts. At work I wear "office casual": khaki trousers, collared shirt, no tie. I would never wear a white shirt without a tie. Whenever I bring home Persil from Germany, I look for "Megaperls Color". I only need to use 15-30 ml per load in a large FL machine (Frigidaire 2140....large by European standards but on the small side by today's US standards, where machines seem to grow larger each year).

I have two packets of Persil Universal Megaperls brought back by friends visiting Germany who didn't know any better. I am aware for the potential to bleach dark colors with this formula, as mrwash explained, so when I use it, I separate dark colors and wash the darks either with a US detergent (Tide or Gain HE powder, no bleach), with Swedish Via (= Unilever Persil in Sweden) Color, or with Ariel Bio color from the UK. I wash lights with my German Persil Universal, but not dark colors. So it lasts a long time!!

I think mrwash is right....the word "Universal" is misleading. Of my two German Persil packages, one was bought by US friends visiting Germany, they had no idea what Persil was and simply went into a market and did the best they could. The other package was brought by the parents of a German friend living here, they knew I wanted Megaperls but my friend here forgot to tell them about "color", so they bought Universal, again possibly misled by the name, unless they use Persil at home and know the difference between the two formulations. So I have two packets of Universal Megaperls, whereas I need color more than Megaperls. So it can even be misleading to German customers.

Just got

some Persil Color Megaperls sent to me today, from whirlpolf in Germany(Thank you Joe!) Smells wonderful, not strong smelling at all, very pleasent. I can't wait to try it out and see how it does. I am sure I won't be disappointed. Persil Universal Megaperls(for whites) is one the "wish list" next.

Someone Get Me A Stake And A Hammer! *LOL*

Scent of this Persil I got from Stan won't stay down. It's like a vampire that won't remain in it's grave. *LOL*

The other day kept wondering "what is that smell?" wafting from the laundry area into the hall and such. It took me a few days to realise but it's the Persil that is crated and packed away. The scent is actually now coming out of the sealed shipping box. Mind you the individual boxes are encased in ZipLoc bags and wrapped in bubble wrap, then the outer shipping box.

Isn't though!

As you well pointed out "until there is smell a vision" no ones going to believe us!

This was my first experience with Persil so had no way to tell if that was normal, or if something is wrong with it!
Do the Universal Powder users like that scent? ?

Think I'l go down to the vacuum shop where they might sell this, and make them let me smell there boxes *LOL* and see if there the same, or if these are freaks of nature!

Oh then the Vacuum shop will think I just got out of Napa State Hospital!
Known here as the (BOOBY HATCH) *LOL*
