Hey guys i picked up a bottle of Pinesol to notice it boasting of improved longer lasting scent. To my suprise when i brought it home the original pine scent was changed. Boy was i mad. It even looks more watered down.

I thought....

...it was me.

You are right. Original Pine Sol has changed and not for the better IMO. One by one, corporate america continues their proliferation of greed under the disguise of "improved" or "new fragrance" or some other marketing ploy to accomplish the same outcomes - increased revenue at the sacrifice of quality! Yes, the new "original" Pine Sol is a watered down variation of it's former highly aromatic and potent formula.

Rant finished.

Look in Dollar and Discount Stores:

There are Pine-Sol clones out there for less money than Pine-Sol charges, and they have a formula equivalent to the "real original" Pine-Sol. I've forgotten what the percentage of pine oil was supposed to be in Pine-Sol, but some of the clones print a percentage on their label.

Funny that we can miss the smell of Pine-Sol, because it's kind of an institutional smell. My dad hated the smell of it *, and used to claim it didn't kill germs - he'd say the smell just ran them out of the house. :)

* Probably unwanted childhood memories - his mother tended toward the eye-watering when it came to choosing cleaning products. Her white laundry was done with Clorox and Oxydol, and you could smell her wash on the clothesline out back as soon as you pulled up in front of her house. No germ stood the ghost of a chance with her.

Love and Hate

Pine Sol smell.

I can't explain it. It is a clean smell which I like.....But, it's so overpowering that turns me off to using it. I have had the same large bottle of Pine Sol for 7 years or more and it's only 25% empty....Even adding a little bit to laundry, which I don't do very often, you amazingly can't smell it on the laundry after it's dry, but the laundry room smells like pine sol for 2 days or more.....And that's with just a small amount added.

Still - I wish they would leave it alone. I know a LOT of people use Pine Sol and love it...

So I just checked out the change

And it looks like the change made a lot of people angry........So this is a response from them:

To all of you who have asked us to bring back the original Pine-Sol scent, we want you to know we are listening. The reason we switched from the original scent was because of reduced supplies of pine oil. But our teams are working to find out if it’s possible to bring back the scent you love, at least in limited distribution. We will have more information soon. Thanks for speaking up.
