Oscillations from a continious one way motor

OK, full of questions tonight, but how does a washing machine transmission produce the oscillations of the agitator from a continuously rotating motor. If possible, could you use the Helical drive Maytags as an example, because they are the most interesting to me, and I assume they are the simplest. Any graphics or pictures would be great too! Thanks! Jed T.

Thanks! That was pretty cool. Still can't wait to see one in person to really check it out. If i heard correctly Maytag made wringers all the way up to the 80's? Surely I must be wrong...
 
Ooops, I should have been more specific. Maytag wringers were available up through 1983.

a neat museum - I have got to go there.
The helical solution from Maytag beats the pants off of all the rest in agitator driven solutions. Nothing until the truly direct drive (armature is the agitator) arrived came even close to meeting all the conditions as did this piece of engineering.
The other solutions, from the spring driven return stroke to the last of the Amananantags all, one way or the other, just fall short.
When I see such beautiful machinery in action, I feel humbled. I couldn't design or execute that solution if I use both hands and you gave me a year full of Sundays...Thanks so much for that video!
