As you may know, just before the whole roofing leak thing our spin-tube died (sorry, but I wasn't that sad). Dr. Bobby was kind enough to bring over this ca. 1984 KA 20 for a replacement! But, when he helped us get it in, we found it leaked.

Fast forward to this past Saturday when appliance doctor John, Coldspot66, came over with his handy dandy tool kit and parts. No more leaks!

However, when we installed it, we had a bit of leaking in the drain hose. The original was heavy duty reinforced heater hose, and the 1/2" barbed fitting just wouldn't go in far enough.

After a trip to Lowes, we managed to put something together, and it's all set and working great! It's nice not having to be so careful when loading so that everything's facing the center of the tub!!!

Thanks Bobby and John, from both of us!!!

Oh, sweet Jesus, after what you guys have been through with leaks, I would have thought you'd be screaming "Noooooooooooooo!!", pulling the machine out with your bare hands and throwing it through a window.

Is this the all-pushbutton model with rapid-advance timer? I had one of those. It was either an '84 or '85. I was still doing a lot of drugs then, so pinning down dates is a bit slippery, LOL. It was a fine dishwasher, but had to have the timer replaced about a year into ownership.

I love how they fill, heat the water, then start the cycle. Classy.

On the down-low: I wouldn't be sad waving buh-bye to one of those spin tube machines, either. Loading it would drive me up the wall.

Oh, you people.

Okay, I totally agree that when you're serious about dishwashing, you end up with a KitchenAid, but I just did a monster load in the spin-tube the other night--pots and pans and all. It might just be because I have rockin' hot water, but mine does pots and pans (and fry-pans) easily. I even did the colander--just set it upright in the middle of the bottom rack, because it drains the water, anyway!

Note that there was no cheating; the pots and pans were in the bottom rack. :-)

Like anything else, you get used to it. And I still have an easier time getting things in the spin-tube than a GE with a tower... :-)

I do think, though, that the Custom Imperial with the double washes and the detergent dispenser probably does a better job than the Deluxe models that have a single wash and just the dimple in the door for the detergent.

Beautiful machine, though, and I know you'll love it!

You will wonder how you went so long without one! Nate is right, after you've tried everything else, when you use a KAid you are done.

I recently made and canned some chow-chow which can get sticky due to the sugar involved. I was using a very large stock-pot which when inverted, fit perfectly on the bottom-rack of my old "Patrician". It came out perfectly clean without scrubbing at all. This pot would not have fit in any other (vintage) brand, anyway.

You will LOVE KAID!
