My wife, Bev, had a total hysterectomy this past Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI. The reason for the surgery was that they found cancerous cells during a routine pelvic exam. Thankfully, the cancer was localized in the uterus only, so this means no radiation, or chemo. St. Joseph's is part of Ministry Healthcare, which is world renowned. This just proves once again that routine exams can be lifesavers.

My mom

My mom had the same cancer and surgery when I was in sixth grade. I'm sooo happy for you two!!!....Bill in Az.....
 
Sorry you had to go through the scare...BUT

I'm so glad that they caught it in time!!!!!

Recovery will be that much easier with a clear mind :-)

A very speedy recovery....

...my mother had a full hysterectomy in 2005. The uterus can collapse and this is what started down my mothers need...

BUT, compared to when my gran had one in the 1950's and was flat on her back for weeks and weeks, mum was up and out of bed on day 3...

AND...She hasn't felt this good for 20yrs she is now of the opinion that it should be compulsory at 50!
 
I am so glad that everything is ok you will be in my prayers.My mother is a cancer survivor she had it when I was in high school that was in 1980's and she is still here today.I wish the very best for the both of you.Carl
 
Check ups

Just make sure that your wife gets checked up at least every 3 mos or so. Follow up visits and blood tests and scans afterwards are very important.
In my case, I wasn't considered "cured" until after 5 years.
During the 5 year period I had check ups every month for the 1st year and every 3 mos for the next 4 years.
Now its every 6 mos probably for the rest of my life.

ALL women should get checked for breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

ALL MEN READING THIS should get check ups for testicular and prostate cancer. They are easy tests and could save your life.
And remember, men CAN get breast cancer.
Check yourselves out men !
If your not sure, ask a professional for help.

That's great news Tim

So thankful it was detected and treated early. One of my sisters has be going through the whole ordeal of breast cancer (surgery, chemo, radiation, etc) these past couple of years. Fortunately, she has been recovering very well.

I'm very glad you and Bev did not having to go through all that.

This for both of you.
My mother confronted a similar situation in 1987. My dad insisted she follow the doctor's rules on check-ups and follow-ups exactly.
She hated it, but he insisted and it saved her life.
