Well after seven weeks of having the hotpoint S line it had to go. Stupidly long wash times. Over sensitive spin and back with a beko.
Beko have got it right with this machine. The pump is quiet. You can virtually hear it. When it's on spin it's a lot quieter and before it finishes the spin to go on to the next rinse it flushes water through from the dispensor while the pump is still on to flush that extra bit of soap out.

So far I'm really impressed with it. I loved my last beko and only got rid as I needed a bigger wash drum. I know a lot of people slate them but personally I think they have got it right on this machine

Congratulations

On the new machine Rob. To be honest I didn't see you getting on with the Hotpoint. I really like these Beko machines and almost bought the 10kg version but went for a Zanussi Lindo at the last minute. It's reassuring to hear that the pumps are quiet on these. The only Beko machines I've seen in operation seemed to have quite loud pumps and as we are open plan I wanted a machine that I knew had a quietish pump. Having said that I really like the Lindo. It does have some very long cycles but I use the "finish in" function so the washer is finishing either when I get up or get in from work, it's far more intuitive that a normal delay start. My sister got the older style Beko 8kg machine and is very impressed. I'd definitely consider a Beko for my next machine. I look forward to hearing, and seeing, more about your new machine

Cheer's....
Well so far I've done four loads. I'm not open plan but I live in a two bed semi and all my doors are always open. I had to check to make sure the machine was on earlier it really is that quiet. Even on full spin speed it's pretty quiet. My last beko was excellent but the pump was awful. Really noisy. This one is whisper quiet. The quick 30 degree wash has been reduced to 28minutes. Not that I would use that except for maybe jeans
I hated the hotpoint. My miele is in thethe summer house waiting on a a replacement spider so hopefully that will be my second machine in spring

I wondered what had happened to the Miele. I never thought I'd live the day to say, but Beko is starting to pleasantly surprise me, yes they've had a bad past but the new stuff is good and if not better than long established competitors. I look at the Grundig machines and would gladly take one over a nasty Chinese made Hoover, given that there isn't much difference in cost

Yes the miele has been stripped and cleaned. I've had the pressure washer on the spider and it came back to black. You could actually smell the washing powder. Think Ariel. All the parts have had a good soak and wash and even though the spider would probably last a while I'm one of those people who do it right first time and hopefully have no issues in the near future.
The beko was on sale for 179.00 it's 8kg
Which is big enough for the duvets etc. My old beko had major issues with rinsing all the soap out even with extra rinse. This one has no problems at all. For a budget machine it really is good. My fan oven is beko and it's great and my only regret was retiring my old 11 year old hotpoint dishwasher to replace it with a beko one. The wash results are awful. It doesn't like to be filled up. Two thirds full and it's OK but wouldn't buy one again

Very nice Beko machine. I think Beko are excellent value for money. My Hotpoint Smart 9kg does annoy me with it's very sensitive spins.

Adamthemieleman,

I always wondered about Hoover being made in China after I saw an inlet pipe with a Chinese manufacturers address printed on it when I went to look at a Hoover Dynamic Next in local Currys store. I don't like how they have made their detergent drawers tiny on their latest machines. No logic there. They appear to have a 13kg machine now and the drum in genuinely very large, but all their other 8kg and 9kg machines have a smaller drum that what I've found in Hotpoint/Indesit with same capacity.

Very nice.
I always find Beko stuff to be pretty good for the money, the Beko dishwasher we bought in summer 2014 has by far been one of the best ones we've had.

Rinses

Hi there, can I ask, how many rinses does your new Beko do on the standard cycles? I have a Panasonic which I love in almost every respect except that two rinses is standard so if you want three you have to select it. However, if you chose any of the Eco programmes you cannot have three rinses as well - WHICH REALLY IRRITATES ME! I have done some research on other machines, LG & Samsung and it seems that two rinses is the norm on modern machines now. Is this the same with Beko?

Rinses

Hi it does standard 3 deep rinses with the option to do an extra one. In between rinses it flushes some fresh water through to clear any suds before it goes on to the next rinse which is a vast improvement on my previous beko which was awful at rinsing. Even at the end of the programme I would do an extra extra rinse and spin and there would still be suds in the water.

I like how Beko does 3 rinses. I don't get why more manufacturers don't keep to the 3 rinses. I really disliked this on my Hotpoint when I got it but I got used to it now.

Well done on getting a good machine.

Thanks
I just really like how they have added a few little extra things that most people wouldn't even notice except us enthusiasts. Lol. It's just finished back to back loads since this morning as Saturday is wash everything day. Duvets dogs blankets and bed towels etc.

So far I'm really happy with it

Not meaning to burst your bubble...

Hi Robliverpool, I can see that your new Hotpoint turned out to be a fiasco and I'm glad you realised in time to get rid of it: I recently tried one of them myself and I soon sent it packing... in a roundabout way for the same reasons you're giving in your post.

I had a similarly bad experience (or even worse) with a Beko though, it looked identical to this one on the outside (see pic below), but it might have been different from the inside and the way it worked compared to the one you got. It was a 7Kg slim-depth model (50cm deep) and I'd say it was the worst, most inflexible and primitive machine I've used in my life! I used to like the look of it so much, that when I was presented with an offer on this model, I couldn't resist and I sold my Zanussi Lindo to make room for the Beko: that was the biggest mistake I've ever made!

Inflexibility of use and incompatibility of wash functions/options were just some of the limitations of this machine: e.g. the 'Prewash' could not be selected with any other option, I often use this function on other washers for small loads of cleaning cloths and sponges and I typically like to choose a shorter wash time (small loads don't need to be beaten in the drum for hours on end) and add some extra rinses as these little loads would be particularly grubby... but this wasn't possible with this Beko. Compared to older Bekos, the main wash phase had been given some thought and criteria (e.g. the machine would tumble immediately while loading water so it would get an adequate amount of water for the size and absorbency of the load inserted in the drum), but when it came to the rinse, the machine would statically load a set quantity of water ignoring any possible load size/type and resulting in a massive waste for a small load which would be swimming in an ocean of water... and barely enough water for a big load which would absorb it and drop its level considerably: I found this totally unacceptable from a washer conceived in 2015... considering that most washers have nowadays evolved to recognise what they have inside and wash/rinse appropriately reaching maximum performance and efficiency. So many other things, no matter how significant they were, made me loathe this machine with a passion... to name but few: the tremendous gap in the spin speed selection, either 800rpm or 1400rpm with nothing in between; all those pre-programmed phases carried out even when not needed resulting in more waste of resources and time (other machines I've tried use an anti-suds phase only when suds are present) and even little annoying things like how accidentally moving the knob during the wash would change the program (unless child lock was used) and end up with a cancelled cycle.

In my case, this machine was sent packing and replaced by the Hotpoint which ended up the same... I now have a Hisense which is far superior in terms of efficiency, flexibility and wash evolution/intelligence... I'd say, in comparison to the first 2 contendants, it's the equivalent of a human being vs a mere machine. Rant over ;)

Hi.
Really sorry to hear you've had a bad experience with your beko. I think at the end of the day it's what features you need in a machine. Where as the hotpoint had a lot of features I wouldn't use that often the beko fits my needs. I tend to do quick hot washes which the beko is ideal for me as it's less than an hour where as with the hotpoint it would be two hours minimum.

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the rant!

Yes Rob... the Hotpoint allowed for lots of wash combinations but it would still fail to cover all scenarios as yourself found you weren't able to use a short hot wash (I like them myself)! What made matters even worse was the fact that the machine was affected by a beyond belief end of cycle spin saga which often resulted in rather damp clothes that needed to be re-spun separately.

The overall cycle times in the Beko is much more reasonable, and the quick hot wash on the 'Daily Quick', is very reasonable even with just 2 rinses (3 rinses only with low temperature or on the considerably longer standard cycle). What really gets me though about the Beko, is the fact that it's advertised as a smart machine, although it clearly isn't... you can even see on the control panel it says 1kg to 7kg (1 to 8 in yours) and it's even rated as A+++ which is entirely based on the ECO program, a completely useless 3 hour long cycle with 2 rinses (inadequate for a full load, but these are fixed so a partial load would have enough rinse water). Yet, I can see how usable it is for the type of washes you do :)

Lol no problems on the rant. At one point I was close to putting a hammer through the hotpoint. Even though it was a 1400 spin it never felt like they had been spun on that speed (when it eventually spun)
My mate has the hotpoint now. Five kids so it'll get plenty of use.
The main thing I like about beko is the spin. It's no where near as fussy as hotpoint and my previous LG. It just does it and when it picks up speed it levels out. As for being A+ ratings don't bother me nub. I'm on a water meter and I'm quite happy to pay that little bit extra so my clothes are rinsed properly. On the daily quick the water is just over a third above the door.

My my goal is to sort the miele out in the spring and keep the beko for duvets dogs blankets etc

I remember when I used a Beko in the flatshare and I loved how it used to get on with the spins.

No fussing, that's one thing I dislike about my Hotpoint, it's fussy.
