Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Beautiful refrigerator Louis, I love the freezer drawers, such a great way to be able to organize things!! Does it have an ice maker?

Does Europe "do" ice in drinks to the extent that we use it?
I want to say I had a hard time finding iced-drinks on that side of the pond in the 80's.

European fridge freezers rarely come with such things as icemakers...come to think of that, Australian ones don't have them either unless you pay lots and lots for an 'American style' side by side and even then they are normally on TOL models....

Louis,

Pleased I wasn't going mad (some may argue that point though). Just out of interest, was the old fridge made by part of the Electrolux group? It looks very similar to the Electrolux we had in the UK (bought second hand) which was a fantastic fridge and quite unusual. Ours was effectively an undercounter fridge and equivalent freezer that were one stacked unit. Even had two compressors....

Very cool Fridge Louis!

Now you are Frost Free!
I bet you will see a dip in your electric bill!
Nice new Fridge!

Ice maker

Yes, it comes with an icemaker. This is it! LOL

Europe, at least the Netherlands don't use ice as much as people in the USA. A lot of friends find drinks with a lot of ice watered down. Where's ice there's no soda. But ice is better available than in the 80's. Lately I've seen even bags of ice in some supermarket.

Terry,

Freezer drawers are indeed a wonderful way to organize things in a freezer. All upright freezers for consumers have drawers AFAIK.

Brent,

I bet my electric bill goes down, the old one was an energy guzzler!

Ron,

The old fridge I had was a Marynen. Orginally Marynen was a Dutch brand until Zanussi bought it up. My old fridge was a Zanussi in disguise. At that time Zanussi was not part of Electrolux yet.

Luigi, regarding the freezer drawers: Does each on vary in size such that it's recommended for varios sorts of packaged material? or does one simply put things wherre they best fit. Also, does each drawer have a different degree of freeze level (0, -10, -20) for varioius tempeerature requirements? Hey, just thinking of some unique applications if it was the reality of the machine.

Hey Louis, thanks for the information about the ice maker. I just got done straightening out my freezer and kept thinking how great these drawers would be!! Love that combo oven too!!! Terry

"The old fridge's insulation had started to detoria

So the insulation of a fridge has a limited lifetime? My fridge is running almost constantly too. That could explain it: the fridge is 28 years old.

I must say that I have no idea about its electricity use when it was new. I didn't have one of those energy monitoring gadgets then. I think that these things didn't even exist at that time.

Bosch Gourmet + answer to Bob (Appnut)

Hi Louis,
time ago Panthera wrote that some BSH fridges come from the same works that make Mieles and Liebherr

I guess your Bosch indeed is sourced from this very factory, looks very similar to the Liebherr I bought 2 years ago. It was 200 € cheaper than the same miele-equivalent model, just the outer styling is different

What about the Gourmet ?

I have a 12 y.o. Philips/Whirlpool made in Sweden one and since we had this oven we rarely used the big one built inside the cabinets
We often use forced air toghether with microwaves ... cakes cook in half time.
Microwave ovens are the only reliable whirlpool stuff I have ever had to do with

@ Bob/Appnut - No, all those drawers have the same temp, as it has a forced air freezing system and they are in the same "tub".
We have multi temp fridge-freezers (fridge + freezer + cellar + 32°F compartement for fresh fish/meat) but these compartements are phisically divided

An example is Liebherr BioFresh system
... it's funny : Liebherr makes cranes too !! :-))

oooh Louis, what a nice combo oven. I didn't relaize it was a m-waver as well!

So what are the buttons 90,180,360,600, 800. Seconds of time? Can't be degrees *C or *F ............

Am I crazy, but I thought your cooktop was an older classic thing at one time. Is this one new? It is lovely! It's over the dishwasher, isn't it?

Ice Makers

are usually the first thing to "go" on U.S. refrigerators. I would never want one. My reason is always the same: "Is the recipe that hard???"

90,180,360,600, 800

That is the variable (or stepped ) power control for the microwave 800 watts, 600 watts etc...

Mielabor.....

Your fridge may need re-gassing with refrigerant or your thermostat has gone. Insulation is not normally the cause of a compressor to run almost constantly.
