Maytag demise
There is a particular elderly member of my household who will sometimes start a load of laundry in my 24 year old Maytag, hover over the machine and stop the machine to add more agitation time.
Ordinarily this would not be a problem, but she'll do 3-4 times, this is, I suppose the onset of dementia.
I've pleaded with her many times to stop what she's doing only to be ignored, she's unaware of the needless strain she's placing on the entire machine.
Yesterday afternoon the timer decided to call it quits, it's little electric motor showing 24 years of use.
When I get the used Speed Queen I am now sanitizing in service she'll be forbidden to use it at all, I will wash her laundry instead.
She's finally realized her errant ways when a plume of smoke emanated from the timer, fortunately I was nearby to unplug the now dead Maytag.
Growing old sure sucks, the person in question is my 92 year old Mother...
