What the heck is up with P&G ruining everything as far as scents? I've moved onto Reckitt Benckiser and Henkel products for this reason. I will, buy a few from P&G.

I wish I had never bought the Downy that I have now. It leaves too much of a smell. I hate to waste the stuff. Honestly though, I think the tide liquid original is one of the better smelling ones
Also have a bottle of cheer color guard and some Ariel powder. The Ariel is more like foca with its smell and higher sudsing.

I use Persil Advanced Clean oxi+odor ultra pacs, along with the Snuggle Super Fresh softener which smell really good. I also use Finish Ultimate in the black and gold container, along with finish jet dry which smell real nice.
I prefer unscented products but don't necessarily find their scents objectionable. I think they are way too strong though. It's that or people WAY overdose product.
I tried unscented detergent, and all my older shirts smell when I sweat in them... so I bought some Gain, but use relatively little in order not to be overpowered by the perfume. I don't use softener at all...
I do use both laundry detergent and fabric softener, but the stuff from P&G like Tide and Downy stink. I prefer Persil and Snuggle, as their scents deliver true freshness. Tide original smells like straight cleaning chemicals like bathroom cleaner, while Downy smells like hair spray.
Don't even get me started with Cascade products. On top of their smells, their platinum plus power of bleach suds up too much. This is why I quit using Cascade, and all of their products and switched to nothing but Finish products. Their pods don't even suds, very little if any.
I still miss and want P&G's DASH detergent that was used exclusively in our homes. Because our Filter-Flo machines tended to over-sudsing, my Parents switched from FAB to DASH and stayed with it. I always like the scent of that detergent; it had notes of nutmeg and mace(spice, not weapon) and coincidentally or not smelled like the DIAL body soap that was the family bar and I still use it. Dash cleaned well and didn't linger on the clothes after drying. When Tide with Bleach was introduced decades ago, it had the same scent. No more. 
I'm now almost out of all the Persil I bought eight years ago when the powder/pearls were discontinued. Six jugs of pearls (have 1/2 of a jug remaining) and two or three big jugs of ProClean 2in1 liquid (have enough for one or two loads). I bought a medium jug of Tide Ultra Hygienic Clean liquid, which I believe is among the "beloved"-and-highly-touted CR outfit's top recommendations. The scent strikes me as sickly/sweet and has notes of the sour/mustyness that I've noticed in stinky washers.

What's so hygienic about the so-called "hygienic clean"? I don't get it.
