This ad states that the washer pulsates the water (and the load) 5-1/2 times per second.  Is that accurate?  That seems like something that Philco's Automagic washer would do.

If this is accurate, did GM's Frigidaire washers continue to operate at this speed until their demise?

Pulsations Per Second

Lawrence,

According to the November 1978 Frigidaire Tech-Talk service manual for clothes washers, the normal agitation speed for washers was 360 pulsations per minute and 240 pulsations per minute for the gentle speed. (Disclaimer: I have two Frigidaire washers from the final years of the GM run.)

This would indicate 6 pulsations per second on Normal, and 4 pulsations per second on Gentle: (Pulsations per minute divided by sixty seconds per minute).

Using this formula, the machine in the advertisement would operate at 330 pulsations per minute, so the 5.5 pulsations per second figure appears reasonable. There are a few people who have machines from Frigidaire's early models, and I would also like to know if this is accurate in the real world.

5-1/2 times per second. Is that accurate?

Just checked a Unitmatic YouTube clip and slowed it down to 1/4 speed. That figure is accurate. Pulsamatic is 10.
