Old Mini-basket

AI had no idea it went back that far. Although it seems like I do recall a wringer version or something to that effect, for some reason I didn't think about the automatics until the mid-late 60's. Interesting ad.

Glad somebody appreciates it!

I couldn't agree more, although, Consumer Reports had some sour words it. What they should have said, in comparing those two machines, is how the 1948 machine extracted more water and washed better. Dicks.

What's so complex about its control system? By 1960, you expected three wash & two rinse temps, two speeds and variable water levels, especially on a TOL machine. The next model down with separate selectors for all of those settings looked far more complex. If they were looking for something puzzling, they should have photographed a TOL Kenmore control panel. The old GE would not have automatically handled wash and wear or delicates & woolens as well as this machine. Sounds like some constipated Luddite wrote the report.

The cold water wash key at the far left overrides the hot or warm wash temps in the 5 cycles. The little toggle switch under the control panel (between cycle tabs 3 & 4) has three positions for the rinse selector: Automatic, to use what the cycle provides, always warm or always cold.

A 'GEM' of a GE!!!!!!

I think it should be from "Complexity" to "Simplicity"...

For one thing washers by this time had a METERED fill, as opposed to a TIMED FILL, finally recognizing the importance of how much conserving water & having the proper amount for your load, regardless of how long your wash cycle would be...

Jackasses..................

they meant to say Flexibility!......these are one of the few machines that let you operate any cycle, with any wash speed, any spin speed, any water level, any wash/rinse temp combination....for any fabric.....even ones not even created yet in the future...this machine was ready for action!......

not to mention the Famous FilterFlo lint removal, functioning at any level......

Practically anyone with a common sense brain could operate it....I was working my Mom's at age 3.....

So simple...anyone can use it.....I am suprised they didn't have a spokesperson like Ray Charles in a commercial demonstrating it!....LOL
