What's so complex about its control system? By 1960, you expected three wash & two rinse temps, two speeds and variable water levels, especially on a TOL machine. The next model down with separate selectors for all of those settings looked far more complex. If they were looking for something puzzling, they should have photographed a TOL Kenmore control panel. The old GE would not have automatically handled wash and wear or delicates & woolens as well as this machine. Sounds like some constipated Luddite wrote the report.
The cold water wash key at the far left overrides the hot or warm wash temps in the 5 cycles. The little toggle switch under the control panel (between cycle tabs 3 & 4) has three positions for the rinse selector: Automatic, to use what the cycle provides, always warm or always cold.
