'Even your most delicate lingerie is gently dried!" "Nylon, fresh as new!" "All your most delicate fabrics can be dried!"

Does this dryer really dry this gentle & that good? What other ones can?

A CONSUMER REPORTS Buying Guide I have, that reviews dryers, states the Norge-built machines to have the best drying temperatures (electrics ones, the kindest) but we know how rough their washers can be washin' 'em... While you'd think the Whirlpool & Kenmore ones would dry more gently, yet they found the Delicate drying temps to be a bit to hot, compared to how gently their washers will do, and the other brands, Maytag, Hotpoint, GE, and the White-Consolidated stuff to all fall under the Average category...

Wonder what there is today that can boast as good drying (and is it still what women expect?)...

Gas dryers tended to yellow nylon because of the chemical reaction with the combustion byproducts and the damp nylon. It was not the temperature that caused yellowing. You have only to look at the damage a standing pilot does to the wiring insulation and interior painted surfaces to see what kind of damage the reactions can cause. Even door gaskets in older gas machines looked different than the gaskets after similar years of use in same model electric dryers.

I wonder if the report about high temps for delicates were based on drying them in the auto dry cycles where the fabrics were slightly overdried as the time-temp autodry system moved the timer to the OFF position. The Norge would have seemed gentler because their dryers did not have auto-dry until later.
