P.O.D. 10/20/13: JC Penney Washer (TOL)

To me the ad seems to tote this washer as being JC Penney's "only offered", though certainly as a Flagship model, it is the only one that's really ad-worthy!

Any thoughts on this machine (and the dryer?), basically a Hotpoint clone by GE?

Control panel is ugly as a home-made mud fence. Compared to the high style of Hotpoint's earlier years when they had, in some aspects, more control panel than washer, this poor thing looks like a stepchild, or a Penny's product. Poor pathetic Penny's.

I agree that control panel is not too attractive; it reminds me of a three-eyed owl. I do like the knobs themselves better than those used on most Hotpoints at the time.

Keep in mind this was the 70's...

... and the universal solution to graphic problems was to draw a thick orange line around everything.
