Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I sometimes wish I kept a diary of things like which day it rained or blew the screens off or which Tide ad was POD. But I'm already chock-full of useless data like every line of Emperor dialog from Star Wars VI including the billions of neurons it takes to recite those lines in character.

So, quite possibly maybe but really I dunno.

POD?

Hello,

I keep seeing you all with POD...what does that mean??

I haven't been able to infer on that one...

LaVidaBoem

POD

Picture Of the Day

There's also POS, Piece of $hit, often referring to White Consolidated Industries products. BOL means Bottom Of the Line, then there's MOL and TOL.
You'll get used to it, it makes for quick typing

Thanks so much...

I had the others...just never dawned on me...duh!

Appreciate Kindly

Well, yes, I meant Picture Of The Day, that is what P.O.D. is the acronym for...

Witness my other abbreviations that my fingers are often too weary to type (or the energy is being saved for correcting notorious typo-'s, or preventing mis-spelled words, being able to keep my train of thought (to save me going back to do editing, re-writing or jamming in a few words, or one word, or adding to one word I wish to make use of in context to the Topic, etc.) or just want to convey perfect grammar...--Whew!)...

They are:

w/ (with)

w/o (without)

& (and)

AND I'm sure I may have more...

But getting back to the subject, I believe I've seen that ad a couple or more days ago, and it very much is akin to the boy in the pirate costume (in another Tide ad, actually) yelling for mother to come and see the box of detergent he is actually accepting the delivery of her new washer at such a tender, young age, in...

Well, Dave...

Hey Man,

Thanks for the explanation; and, since you are such a stickler for proper English and grammar...well, I just couldn't help it!

Never end a sentence with a preposition..

..."tender, young age...IN...." Tisk, Tisk.

That was such an easy setup...you stepped into that...

Dun't feel bad, I had to ask what a POD was too. I reset the browser to open AW on POD so I always know what it is.

Oh, 'dun't' is hotkey for Ricky Ricardo voice. But you dun't have to remember that, just thought I'd splain.

w/ for with

When my mom was making notes or writing recipes she used "c" with a line over it for "with." Nobody seems to know of this now, but I think it had to do with Latin which she took for 4 years in high school. "Cum" pronounced koom in Latin means "with" and I think it was an abbreviation for "with" like when a waitress was taking orders. She worked her way through college at various jobs and some of them involved waiting tables so maybe that is where this was used. I dunno.

Your mother was correct.

"Cum" (pronounced Koom for the porn-addled) is Latin for "with", and c with a bar was the old abbreviation, just as c. is circa (about), & = e + t (and) Lb = Librum (Pound), d = denarius (penny as in 3d nails)

Ah, Tennessee Man...

Are you familiar with White Lily products, out of Memphis?

I don't know that I had ever looked, but me & pa was talking last night...

I needed some more flour, and use white lily...

We looked, and sure enough, Memphis TN.

OK question is...does anybody remember the man's name who used to advertise White Lily products during country shows>> Hee Haw, country music specials...etc??

We can see him...black headed, older then, receding hair line, mustache??

Not a cast member of any show that I remember...

Thanks,

LaVidaBoem

Post Script:

I guess you think this was a setup; duh, no, I just found it.

List of guest on Hee Haw,...and who is it...

Tennessee Ernie Ford
