Qustion before I screw it up......

Maytag Neptune MAH5500BWW FL series 73938170ZU.....just like the spare one I got off you....

the machine still works...but I am having an issue with the cycles increasing time over the period of about 2 weeks.....Cotton Sturdy, Normal soil, used to be 52 minutes....little by little the time has increased, now its at 83 minutes.....although it will perform as usual, but close to 1 1/2 hours to wash a regular load......reminder I have several that work in unison "the FLEET"....start them all at the same time, and they all end at the same time....except this one

but my question really is, I want to switch out the main board up top, or should I change out both, top and motor controller.......I have both....but don't want to transfer an issue with one, into the replacement, and mess it up again......

I know on the 3000/4000 series the motor controller instructs the timer when to advance......and curious if the motor board is really my issue......

other wise the machine runs fine, just extended wash, rinse, spin times.........almost like if I selected "stain cycle"........but adding any other selection, extra rinse, stain cycle, pre-soak---puts the time up to 99 minutes or more......

I have unplugged the unit for a few days.....but nothing changes.....same cycle, same soil, 83 minutes....

EXTRA LONG NEPTUNE CYCLES

Cold side of inlet valve  may be bad, Try starting two machines on a cold wash fill and see if this machine is filling as fast as the other.

John......you are BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

started both machines as you stated.......cold/cold......we'll in an instant I could see the problem one's water flow was down to a trickle.......

took off the hoses and cleaned both screens, very clogged with grit on the cold side......hooked back up and started unit up, again cold/cold first.....full flow...the screeen timer started at 83, by the time it finished filling, dropped down to 70.......did a spin drain.....restarted again but stayed at 70......I let it run thru the whole cycle, next cycles, I added a load of towels, and did a warm/cold, then a warm/warm, a hot/cold, and another cold/cold all night......after each cycle, time was lowering down.......this morning I am at 52 minutes, back to Normal as usual......

who would have ever thought that this machine knew the water flow was low, and calculated that into the remaining time......I am suprised it did not give me the "LF-long fill" code......

although another clue to me should have been, the dispensers were always full of water at the end of the cycle.....not enough cold water pushing thru to get the siphon going....DUH!

in the mean time....I cleaned the screens on the other machines as well....better safe........I need to look into a whole house filter, we seem to get a lot of grit here and there from the well and the water treatment system.......sooner thant I thought, after seeing this.....

Hi Martin I glad that worked, I should have said it may be a bad valve or clogged screen. We never see clogged screens here as the public water supply is very clean. Tho only clogged screens we usually see are clogged hot water side screens when the plastic dip tubes start breaking up in water heaters. Glad it was an easy fix talk to you soon. John.

I should have mentioned we have well water at this house.......and theres times it picks up fine grains of sand found in the water.....normally you can see it in the cloudy water.....but I am sure its plugging up screens

If the machine had a window, you could have seen it was taking forever to fill.
