Toggle,

I was looking through this thread again today and noticed. You have the same Frigidaire/Ge setup I have except i have the front mounted controls. Is your dryer gas or electric? I think your GE TL is similar to the first one we had when we bought our house. Hope to get to see them.

Thanks, So we both have gas, that could be a problem LOL. I thought I saw the black gas line and 2 110's but was not sure because the deceased may have been the other 110 cord. My dryer is the Profile line but does not have the stainless interior.

Whirlcool: interesting; I bet they'll replace the spin-mat under warranty too; or you could pay for a new one and use the present one as a Frisbee:-) Danby's solution to the spin mat is to mold it in such a manner that it cannot sit perfectly flat, it's always slightly warped, and this appears to give it a bit more strength to resist bulging outward (yes, I've lifted the lid and watched:-). It appears from pictures that Hoovermatic's solution is to make theirs like thick concentric ribs so it doesn't bulge.

Speaking of SpinX, that is definitely a company to buy stock in if at all possible. Those things are going to get incredibly popular as natural gas prices keep going up. (Disclaimer: I am not related to SpinX, and I am not a Financial Counselor.)

Noise level is definitely a funciton of balance. A balanced load is practically silent (like, "is it still running?"); jeans loaded improperly are noisy as h---. This is probably all the more critical at 3200 RPM than at 1600.

Steve,

Belated condolences on the loss of the Paki spindryer.

As for purchasing a European spindryer and using that on 220V 60Hz, I did a bit of calculation with the help of an online G-foce calculator (link). My Miele spindryer with a radius of 120 millimeters and a speed of 2800rpm would have to handle quite a lot of G's extra. If the spinspeed would go up with 20% to 3360rpm, the G-forces would increase from 1053.7 to 1517.32. An increase of 43%!!!! You'd better get out of the room in that case too!!!

Whirlcool,

Perhaps most of the owners have been killed off by their Pakistani spinners in an evil plot for them to take over the world? :-)

What You Need Is One Of These!!!

The Amazing "Frigidaire" 6lb load, Vitreous Enamel Drum, Spinning at 2,850 rpm, Pulling 1132 G force. This old girl (Freda Frigidaire)is 40yrs old.

Have never known a twinny or a spinner to break like the ones with plastic drives, Freda has a very heavy cast iron cradle base etc, just as well with those revs...LOL

Cheers, Mike

Ooooo... Laundry room terrorism! Another plot by Islamic extremists to bring down capitalists by hitting them where it hurts, next to their Maytags and Frigidaires!
