I just caught a teaser for the local CBS news that McCain and Palin aren't exactly on the best of terms today, and attorneys are on the way to Alaska to inventory Palin's clothing??? I probably won't be up for the story, but has anyone else heard of this??? Probably post-election BS.

"Wasilla Hillbillies Looting Nieman Marcus from coast t

From Newsweek today: "But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family—clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books."

She can see Russia from her house, doesn't know Africa is a continent - not a country, her aides are telling tales of "tantrums" from her when her press reports were less than favorable... Does anyone need any more evidence that she is a total idiot? Someone remarked to me today that she has carried her infant son around by one foot like a distracted ape for the last two months. I think we've covered her "model parent" image already in these pages but I'm still amazed that these so-called Christian conservatives are screaming in the streets at the hypocrisy of this woman's life!

Just goes to show 'ya that the "Godzilla from Wasilla" should just stay there. God forbid the Republican Party should resurrect her for 2012.

So McCain's team ran a piss-poor campaign and all they can come up with was it's her fault? Sounds like sour grapes from McCain's people. That's pretty shameful.

According to Wikipedia's article

on Todd Palin, his taxable income for 2007 was around 92,000.

It is amazing to me that between the two of them they had to borrow to dress.

According to Palin, the GOP hired a designer and they told him to make her look vice-presidential on a very short time line. So the designer was the actual person that authorized the purchase of the clothing and she had no part of making the actual purchases. She said she didn't know how expensive the clothes were until she saw a few price tags and protested accordingly. Well, that's what Palin says anyway.

Remember when this story first broke? They said that the clothes would be auctioned off after the election was over? What ever happened to THAT?

What ever happened to . . .

Joe the Plumber? I guess his extended 15 minutes ended abruptly on Tuesday night, and I am not the least bit sorry to see him vanish off the network and cable radar. He's been reduced to fodder for the rabid entertainment tabloids now and can count the likes of Joey Buttafuco and other nobodies as his peers.

Yeah, poor Joe. Here's an average citizen that had the audacity to ask Lord Barack a question. Oh heaven forbid. The press (& the Campaign) spent more time trying to destroy (pardon this coming pun) an average Joe than really checking out the candidates. I actually heard on CNN today, while I was at home running my dog, a "journalist" say now that Obama was off the campaign trail and having his 1st press conference that they can start giving him the tough questions. WTF is that about? Shouldn't a journalist/reporter ask those questions before the election? Not to veer this thread elsewhere, but it's nice to see Chris Matthews expose himself for who he is. It is not a person's job on a major news network (ok so MSNBC is exactly major) to, as he says, to make the new administration look good. Nice.

Joe wasn't a Joe, and he wasn't a plumber. As in all things, honesty is the best policy - especially when you insert yourself into politics.

As for Sarah and her outfits.... If they had been smart, they would have taken her to Sears or Macy's or Penney's, gotten her some outfits, and then tailored them so they fit well. That could have been a major selling point to the few remaining "cloth coat" Republicans.

Oh well. It's over now.

I agree Dan and was thinking the same thing.. why the heck didn't they buy her outfits at Sears, Target and WalMart as a selling point to her down home folksy persona. What about the old saw " you can't turn a pigs ear into a silk purse"

I agree as well...but I would have shopped at Kohl's and scoured the clearance racks...I always find good stuff cheap for myself especially when its the end of a season and they want stuff to move. Why spend 60 bucks for a shirt when that same shirt will be marked down to 6 bucks at the end of a season. Sears is OK but most of the stuff is kinda blah to me and Macy's I dont go into since they killed off my Filenes. Walmart isnt a place to buy clothes...unless you want clothes to fall apart after one wash. Target has good stuff as well. I stepped into a Neiman Marcus at the Natick Collection and almost choked at the prices. And as much as I like Nordstrom..I cant afford it. Nordstrom Rack is more my speed and my wallet loves it.
Also if you have to spend $150,000 on clothes it still doesnt change the fact that she is still white trash. Sad aint it. I can hear the snickering when the Republicans try to get her to run in 2012. The other thing is that even though I wasnt thrilled about having Obama as a choice for president..he better come thru because it wont be pretty if he doesnt.

Todd,

I think we all need to give it a rest. When I read your post, my first reaction was to post an interview on Faux news showing Shep asking a journalist when they first knew that Palin thought Africa was a country.
Then I realized, it's over.
Your side got to play fast and loose with the constitution for eight years and, frankly, the mess they left behind is going to take a while to clean up.
Why not try just being happy that the US managed a fair and democratic election. Considering the last two elections, that is quite something.
Now comes the hard part - I've been biting my tongue all week, trying to be a gracious winner. It doesn't come easy for me. Maybe if we both try, we can find something positive to look forward to.

I've spent $3,900 on clothes ... total, over the past eleven years. Ms. Palin & crew must have been outfitting the entire population of Wasilla. Of course, I look like ~$1 per day, while they all look fabulous. ;-)

Hmmm, I would have been far more likely to vote for McCain if Todd Palin had been his running mate.

To be a devil's advocate, she had to play the part. And if she were like a head of state in Target and Sears attire, how long do you think it'd be before she'd be belittled in the tabloid press for that too?
