What Kind of Suggestions?

are you seeking? How long is your stay? It should be spectacular compared to the weather you're experiencing
now. Do some touristy stuff, take the tram, (you can't miss it) drive to Joshua Tree National Park, um, maybe it's a State
park, spectaular scenery. Of course there's the "resort"
options too!

Well there are a couple of things....

Sadly you might be to late but on one night a week there is a Thrift market or just market that takes the entire main street and you could possibly find some treasures. I am thinking this is on Wed evenings not sure.

There is a great gay/friendly restaurant called Dried Tomatoe, I am not sure if I said this correctly. We ate there a couple of times during out stay, very nice place.

I LOVE Palm Springs

Paul, you may not have classic PS weather if the weather system poised off the California coast is strong enough to make it to the desert, but it's a great resort atmosphere and there is a ton of stuff for four guys to do.

If you're looking for "action" there are lots of gay resorts that are open for day use. If you're looking for bears, there are a couple of resorts that are bear-oriented. Steer clear of the bath house. I've never been to a worse facility. If you're looking for fun, there are things to see and do but this place is mainly about relaxation. The visitors' center is at the top of town. If you're arriving at PS airport there is likely visitor information there at the terminal. But any gay bar or business will likely have tourist info that is geared for you and your friends. Even the straight restaurants have a good number of gay men in them on any given night. PS is the left coast's answer to Key West.

The street/farmers market I believe happens on Thursday nights on the main drag, Palm Canyon. Your typical stuff there, including "cheap dates." Where are you staying?

Thank you kindly!

Thanks very much for the suggestions!
Tram,Joshua Tree, Dried Tomatoe and (God Willing), a Thrift market. Great springboard for a good time!
I'll bring some nice weather back as instructed.
Who knows, maybe I'll run into Rudy DeLaMor on the street!
WHOOSH!

LOL

There is more of a flea market type thing once a month at the community college in Cathedral City. It's either on the first or second Saturday of the month. You can ask around and I'm sure someone can advise you on whether it will be happening this weekend or not. I've checked it out and there's a lot of newer stuff there but you never know what you might find.

So Relaxing

I visited Palm Springs several years ago. I drove down from San Francisco to meet my friend, who lives in Omaha, at LAX. Then we drove to Palm Springs in my 1980 Cadillac El Dorado Biariz. We had a great and fun time.

I'm so dumb at times. While we were sitting in our living room (We had a small apartment for a week), we glanced at the room decor. On the wall were some pictures and 4 wooden letters. We let it go at that. Later we looked again and remarked that what a co-incidence the letters were the same as our initials.

Of course, the management changes them to match the guests names, but we didn't realize it for several days.

September of 2001 lets see. My mother passed away, the man I cared for with Alzheimers passed away. (Therefore out of a job.) And, as if that wasn't enough my b/f decided that he would rather be with one of my friends. Soooo I went to visit one of my better friends..lol in Palm Springs. It just happened to be Gay Pride when I got there. All, I can say is there isn't a better place to go to put ones self back together. The people both Gay and Straight alike are warm and friendly. I've never had a better time in my life. Of course winning 15,000 at Agua Caliente didn't hurt either! All I can say is I hope you have as much fun and luck as I did.

My favorite place to have dinner in PS is Wangs in the Desert on Indian Canyon Drive. If you like Asian food, you'll love this place. It is family owned and friendly. Upscale, has a nice bar and wonderful leechee martinis.

Oh yeah, Bill. I totally forgot that there are casinos to hit if you're into gambling. I also took a tour of 50's architecture around town. I believe the visitor's center at the top of town on route 111 is a case of adaptive re-use of a space age-ish gas station that was designed by a famous 50's architect who has other work around town. I'd also like to check out the resort that has the rooms with retractable ceilings, but it's a mainstream place and I think I'd get bored with the room's sunroof way quicker than I'd get bored viewing the ceilings at a men-only resort . . .

PS is truly whatever you want to make it. Relax and unwind or party all day and night, there are options for both and everything in between. A healthy male can find any sort of satisfaction he's looking for out of a PS getaway, that is for sure.

Holy Cow! Thanks for the info.

Didn't expect so much info. Thanks a ton. I'm gonna print this out so I remember it all.
I love mid-century architecture and received a book on Palm Springs architecture as a Christmas gift. I must take the tram or architecture tour as y'all are suggesting.
Glad to hear it is relaxing in Palm Springs. Right now I'm wound tighter than a two-dollar clock.
I actually don't know the hotel where we're all staying! The other couple set it up. I understand it is a place with no hanky-panky and you must be attired properly at all times.
Regardless, this healthy martini-lovin' male is gonna whoop it up and have me a good time!

Oh Paul, it sounds like your friends want to go the sophisticated route. I guess that could be fun too and no doubt the place you're staying is going to be very nice, but I prefer the more casual, resorty nature of Palm Springs where you can wear shorts to all but the most schmancy places.

A couple of trips ago my partner and I discovered Edgardo's on Palm Canyon (across from the bobbing pipes water sculpture thing) and they had some great authentic tasting Mexican seafood dishes. It might be too casual for your friends if they are looking to go upscale for the duration of your time there, but the food is decent.
