A good friend just became a Pampered Chef consultant, and I am in a bit of a pickle. I was at the Pampered Chef website, and I have most of their prodct line. They have very little that is truly exclusive, and like most direct sale products, they are a little higher than retail. I don't need (another) garlic peeler, or (another) avocado peeler, and I have a nearly complete set of original Farberware Classic........

Do you have Pampered Chef items? Have you held a party? Are you a Consultant? Are any of your friends Consultants?

I am going to order a few things from him, but there's almost nothing I need, let alone afford. (The stove, fridge, vacuum, and books and clothes have wiped me out. Happily.) Maybe some of the dishes with dots, but.......

I can highly recommend the stone roaster and the big round stone pizza flat - very versatile and useful. As for the rest of it, nah!

Since they switched from US made to China made, I don't buy much at all. Was really disappointed innthe "stainless" pitcher that I bought last year...was all plastic, and splashes coffee out rather than pours...for $70, I was not impressed. The ice cream scoops are top notch and the unique items I'll go for, but most of the items can be picked up on Amazon or William Sonoma under different names at a lesser cost.

Been there...done that...got the Sales apron :-)

My SO and I did this 10 years ago. We did the beginner consultant required 6 parties to (mainly) get a lot of stoneware (excellent, btw) and cookware (no longer have). By the 4th "party" it got to be a real chore.
We do like their spice mixes, especially the Dill, and the cinnamon is really great. But even with spice mixes, now that money is much tighter we look locally b4 ordering thru them...

Dated advice

My sister did Pampered Chef parties about 15 years ago. Don't know where the products were made. However the various items we had in the house were all very useful and durable. So durable actually that after over ten years of use I gave the cookware and pots to my niece to use at college as her first set.
As far as the product quality nowadays - I do not know.

The pizza stone is great and I like the garlic press and chopper too. Otherwise, I don't buy much due to prices. If their products are now made in China, I won't buy them without being able to inspect them for quality.

Many years ago I had a Pampered Chef party.  I had been to many and decided it was my time to get some free gifts.LOL  I do love their apple peeler!!

Only thing I have by Pampered Chef is a large glass measuring cup. Bought it because it is made in Anchor Hocking's older style.

My friend Donna was a consultant at that time (3 or 4 years ago), but don't know if she still is or not.

My cousin is actually a "director" or something in the biz...been to Paris on sales prizes and does it full time. She's been doing PC for over a decade if I'm not mistaken.

Pampered Chef is one home party item I wont buy.

First off I think that they are extremely expensive, not to mention they dont really offer anything I'd want for my kitchen.

Now host a Tupperware party and I could drop some serious money on that

I miss Tupperware from the 70s...have picked up a few pieces here and there. All the new Tupperware doesn't hold up in the microwave...I buy mostly Lock n Lock for my plasticware....goes into microwave, freezer and fridge with no issues.

Karen won an Ebay auction today for a ton of silicone baking trays of various shapes and a lot of cookie cutters and a cookie press from pampered chef. She was shocked when she won the auction for only $13.49! She said just one of those silicone pans is worth about $18.00! And the seller is local so we don't have to pay shipping.

We DID get a e-mail from the seller. She just said that "I hope you realize the deal you got on my items! Most have never been used!"

Over the years

Over the years I have bought a few Pampered Chef items from co-workers. Not overly impressed and I thought they were way overpriced. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. My wife and I have always loved Tupperwear and have a good collection of their products. For a while several of my co-workers got into those expensive Loniberger (sp?)baskets. I never bought from them and even told one former co-worker I would never pay $100.00 for a basket - especially if I could go to Garden Ridge and get a comparable basket for $5.00 and a linen dishtowel liner for .99. I didn't care for that co-worker anyway. She was the office "troublemaker". BTW, I have actually picked up a couple of the Loniberger baskets and a nice ceramic Loniberger pitcher at thrift stores for just a couple of dollars each.
