In the flat were in a Panasonic microwave with grill oven was left behind. I think the model number is NN K602. The machines buttons were sticking so the machine kept beeping as it was cycling through the menu. Now the microwave is totally goosed. Its only letting me press the cancel button and just won't microwave anything! I have no idea how old it it is but i'm guessing its from early 90s

I just want to know if its worth getting it fixed and if not what microwaves are good? My folks had a Sharp from 1985 - 2003. It was touch control and had "Carousel II" on it. After that they got a Delongi convection oven/ microwave and grill. That only lasted 3 years. So i'm a bit wary about it all. Don't wan't to spend more than £200 on one. Would like a combination one again as it was pretty handy!

Cheers

Panasonic Microwaves

They usually seem to be quite reliable; I had a Panasonic 'Genius' sensor microwave for 10 years; mum has had her more basic model (with touch controls) for twelve years. "His Nibs'" one is a similar age. I only trust Panasonic microwaves; an awful lot of today's cheap models seem to be poorly made.

I understand that the modern Panasonic models have a lighter weight 'inverter' power supply; they got rid of the heavy transformer of the olden days.

You might be able to get the old one fixed at an approved Panasonic Service Station; apparently Panasonic keeps parts in stock for a longer period than some manufacturers. But you have to get them to do it (risk of high voltages and microwave energy leakage).
