MAYTAG DRYER

That model # should be a water condensing dryer one look @ the back will confirm whether it has the 3" exhaust port on the lower left rear that it would have if its not a water dryer. It doesn't have the little access door on top so its not a gas dryer. I have a white MT water condenser dryer just like this one, Tom found it aprox 15 yrs ago @ an estate sale. I fully restored it when we got it and all the mechenal pts were still available it works great drying a normal in about an hour. Its quiet doesn't heat up the room or spew lint around, and uses about 20 gallons of cold an hour. All though the seller is very wrong about any pts being still available for this dryer it would still make a great addition to some ones MT collection who has great mechanical ability Ben. The dryer would date from about 1956-1959 its defiantly not a HOH dryer.

It's official!!

According to the chart Ben graciously scanned sometime ago, the 640W IS a water condensation dryer!

Wonder what a water film was versus water condensation type. Looks like they even had electronic control condensation dryers???

MT WATER DRYERS

The water film type dryer did not have a blower and the water just ran down the inside of the outer shell like a GE combo. I have one of these also that matches the original style AMP washer I nave never tried it out yet but I am sure the later style condenser dryer would work much better. Not the least of witch the earlier one had no lint filter it did have a clean out trap in the drum but it could be a mess or end up with a clogged water pump. Kind of like the messy early Frigidare Filtrator dryers. When manufacturers first started making dryers they hadn't figured out all these problems like lint and exhaustion etc.
