I ended up purchasing the 1971 Whirlpool Supreme 400 dishwasher referenced in another thread. We installed it, but it started leaking badly (shame on us for not testing before), and a part broke when we were removing it. This part screws into the bottom of the dishwasher on one end, and the other end is for the drain hose attachment. The threaded part is what broke off.

Part says FSP 717029, and in doing some research, that part was replaced by 718564, and of course they are both discontinued and I couldn't find them online. Hoping someone may have this part in their stash somewhere. Also, we did check some hardware stores, and while they had something similar that could work, the threads were too fine.

Thank you, Ben! I ended up buying the part, so fingers crossed that it will work. I haven't been able to find pictures of the replacement part online, so hope it'll do. I'm going to go to one of the larger used appliance places nearby tomorrow and check with them, although they've stopped carrying a lot of older inventory.

We did check Lowes, Home Depot, and a local mom and pop hardware store. They had similar pieces, but the newer part has a finer thread the old part so won't screw into the dishwasher appropriately. The folks at the hardware store said it would work if we would put a bunch of glue or putty around it, but we wanted to see if we could find the right part first before trying to rig something.

WP DW Pump Drain Fitting

You should use the correct part for this, these are easy to find, WP used a similar drain connector through the end of the Power Clean machines in 2012.

They added a drain check valve to this connector in the later 70s and this connector will work just fine.

If you have problems with this pump or motor you can drop in a later pump and motor or even upgrade to the Power Clean pump and motor in your 1971 WP DW.
