"Aids memory and concentration. Helps improve mild memory problems associated with aging". Herbal supplement.

OMG It's eally getting scarier as one matures.........

Made my morning coffee in a small Farberware electric percolator. No longer do it stovetop in that I tend to forget the heat on and make a mess.

Anyhoo, made my coffee and poured it. Unplugged coffee-maker right then and there, lest I forget later.

Stirred in sugar. Stuck the spoon in the Dishwasher.
UHM I rolled it to the sink and ran it last night, so it's full of "cleans". Ok then, lets empty the tableware basket and find the hot spoon.

Done.

I go back for a second cup of coffee and nearly do it again. But even sadder. WHERE IS THE FIRST SPOON? I HAVE NO IDEA.

LAWD HAVE MUSSY ON ME!

Do you know why the universe takes away our memory as we mature? (Read: Enter and pass through trolldom?) So we don't miss our looks, virility, body fitness, old friends, deceased family etc. LOL!

So tell me your stories of going to the basement and forgetting WHY.

Going to the office supply rooom and forgetting WHY.

Going to the supermarket and leaving the shopping list on the table, shopping fomr "memory" then not buying the two critical items that triggererd a shopping trip in the first place

Going out of the house and leaving the wallet and or mobile phone at home.

and the list goes on and on...........

:-)

Oh, for pity's sake,

Toggle, ease the heck up.

At least for me, most of my memory glitches are easily explained, and almost as easily remedied.

Stress.

Tiredness.

Unbalanced eating.

Partial dehydration.

Lack of physical motion.

Not enough physical affection. Hugs or "more."

Consider these suggestions, try counteracting them, and then you may freak out.

Remember, at 48, I am rather older than you are, so there!

Errr... I'm 23...

And I'm worse than that, at times I forget where I last put my watch for days or what is the room I have classes or the name of the lecture or where my wallet is, this is dreadfull as most of the time it gets forgotten on the table near the bancomat as I do a withdrawl, you can't imagine how many marathons I made to get it back all the time!
Plus I need to add all the stuff in your list :)

BTW: ginko biloba, I tried it and the taste and aftertaste of the pills is terrible! Plus I doubt it worked at all hehe :D

LOL. Had a very disorganized mess of an ex.
I dedicated two top drawers. One of for me and one for them.
Money, keys, wallet, jewelry (above the waist), watch go there.

Anytime the items were randomly thrown around the house, they were moved (by a gay little fairy elf) elsewhere. Eventually my point got across and the items were placed in their designated place every time, never again to be lost/forgotten. End of problem.

It's hard when your partner is a "surface abuser" that is comforted by the look of mess and chaos and has to have every surface piled high with stuff. Certain things can be overcome by good "training" and organizations. Others can not be.

ginkgo biloba

I take ginkgo every day, have done for about 10 years.
I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and ginkgo helps with that. It is the only medication for it I have tried that works.
There is a prescription drug that is supposed to mimic the action of ginkgo, called Serc (because it increased circulation), but I found it useless. If I use a quality, premium brand of ginkgo, the volume of the ringing quietens (but doesn't completely go away) over a few days. If I stop taking it or I try a cheap brand, the noise increases. (takes a few days.) There is a tinnitus society here and I have spoken to a couple of people there who agree it is the ONLY thing that helps.

I don't know how you could complain about the taste, just wash it down with a glass of juice or water.

Swallow, don't spit.

Chris.

Absentmindedness

I constantly leave the house forgetting my drivers licence or debit card etc. Never carry a wallet. The grocery thing forgetting why I'm there for what in the first place, happens all the time.
Yesterday I forgot my bank card when I went to certify a cheque, they don't if you don't have it. The day before no debit card, no driver license, no money when I took mom to the drugstore and decided grab a bottle of on-sale Tide. It's an everyday occurrence here.. LOL

I always forget things on my shopping list in the grocery store, even when I have the list.

Funny, I never forget what I am shopping for at the liquor store.

In the past year I have burned about 4 pots. I used them to heat water for my evening green tea fix. I just forget they are on the stove and I end up boiling them dry. Since they are part of our Cuisinart cookware set, they aren't cheap to replace.
Karen finally bought me a Russell-Hobbs electric tea pot. It automatically shuts off when the water boils, and it heats the water faster than on the stove.

Everday occurance here also. lol Just wait till you all pass the mid 50's mark. lol lol

Forget something everyday. Cell phone, house keys, at times forget to take all my meds in the morning. lol Forget to take money, Thank God there is a money machine where I work, and I use Easy Pass. lol

Go down to the basement to take clothes out of the dryer, phone rings, run up stairs, forget to go back down to dryer. lol

So you see it only gets worse.

Gee Togs, weren't you the one to post a comment about "420 overdose" recently? That's my excuse--but it doesn't even require an OD.

And a recent study indicated that Ginkgo biloba doesn't do anything to help with memory issues.

Once again, I say it's the modern age of multi-tasking that those of us born before 1985 simply weren't exposed to in our formative years, and we have ended up being at a disadvantage trying to get our brains and memories to keep up with the pace of living in the 21st century.

~And a recent study indicated that Ginkgo biloba doesn't do anything to help with memory issues.

Of course the study does. Simple over-the-counter herbs and vitamins are poo-pooed by the major pharmaceutical companies because they can't make any money off of something they can't patent.

Just WATCH the authorities go after anyone who claims a "non-drug" can work wonders.

LOL- Multi-tasking? Where 25 things are started and one is maybe half-completed? There is a REASON everone born lately now has ADHD. Too much stimulation when young.

Memory

I only take it when I "remember" it. I think my type 1 diabestes and daily low blood sugar reactions have really fried my brain. I've had type 1 diabetes for 19 years now and when diagnosed the Humalog insulin was $60.00 and now it is $106.00 per vial and still NO generic insulins. There will NEVER be a cure......Bill in Az.....

Multi-tasking

I don't think it has to do with being over 50.. have you ever been in a bingo hall. Those babes can eat a hotdog while unwrapping a chocolate bar and slurping on a coke thru a straw while they're gabbing on the cellphone and butting their cigarette out and still not miss dabbing all the called numbers over 10 sheets all at one time.

Toggles its only going to get worse! Well have some comfort in knowing that when the time comes when you need a good nursing home we know of a good one here in Mass in Danvers to be precise. I tell my other half that when the time comes that he loses his mind completely I know just where to put him....he says that he will go out with a martini in one hand and pills in the other.
