A great sense of loss for someone I never met, but who still
Kelly, what an amazing man you were.
I was hooked the first time I read one of your amazing posts.
I was drawn to you by your articulate writing style, which often touched on the many facets of your life story.
I found you to be a great inspiration given a few fronts where I felt our lives connected.
Know I am truly saddened to have never met you .... but I find great strength and motivation by the way you lived life.
You made a very significant mark which is obvious by the many lives you touched .... truly a wonderful legacy.
I am relieved you are finally not in pain. At times it was very difficult to read about your health care episodes.
So glad the rollercoaster has finally stopped and their is peace.
I expect I will get to know you better through "the stories" and I anticipate there will be many.
Kelly rest ... you fought an incredible fight.
Know your fortitude and strength will be remembered by all and will be a source of courage for many for years to come.
Your "fan from a distance" ... always!

Our deepest sympathies to Kellys family and friends. Kelly was a great man who taught us sharing his knowledge of cooking, baking, washers and mixers, and most of all life in general. Teaching us how to love, share and compliment our friends and loved ones around us. A man who never seemed to meet a stranger. He had a gift to love life and the joy it gave him, which he shared among us all. God bless you Kelly.

How sad it is to go away! But from reading all of the kind letters on here about him,Im truly sorry I never met him!It seems we always know people from behind this mask! The internet! Maybe including myself we should try to know folks face to face! I think there are some truly smart and kind people here.Sounds like there will be another cook in the heavenly kitchen tonight! Somehow it's fitting that one of his last posts in the Super Forum was "Cake". The man loved to create, to bake some wonderful concoctions. I found it amazing that he did not use a recipe, just knew how things would mix and come together.
Kelly shared his entire life with us, he really did not feel the need to hide anything. He took us on his last journey with all the ups and downs. There were parts of his life that was not easy but he overcame and was a stronger man for it. We are all better from knowing him.

As many of you, I knew Kelly through his postings, never having met him in person. We had several conversations through our postings. Such a kind gentleman with a loving spirit.
It's amazing the sadness and loss you can feel for someone with whom you never had the pleasure of meeting face to face. But that just shows how his wonderful personality comes through, even in his writings.
We love you Kelly.

I experianced/met Kelly last summer. Remember a thread Kelly posted about the Frigidaire 1-18 washer that his mom was using, do to, the maytag washing machine she had, failed and was going to be a costly repair(something along those lines?)I asked him in a email, If he was interested in buying my Dependable care Maytag washer, he said yes, and we set up a time for him to come down from Ellensburg.
He was a very nice man, asked to see the maytag right-away. Looked it over, was happy with it, with no questions about it. I helped him load it in to his van. He later emailed me to Thank me very much and say his Mom was much more at ease with the new Maytag, as it was similar to what she had been using. I feel honored to have done a good deed for Kelly, and it has made me happy knowing my first Maytag Dependable Care washing machine I used for years, has gone to Kelly's mom.
You will be dearly missed by us all.

An Amazing Man
I had the pleasure of meeting Kelly back in 2010. I was amazed that he was so reserved and polite compared to the onscreen personality that I knew at the time.
As our friendship grew and we got to know each other better I realized what an amazing person he was. So full of love, kindness, and knowledge on so many subjects.
As everyone here knows from what they've read, seen, and maybe even tasted, Kelly was an extremely talented cook/chef. He could throw a dinner together with very few ingredients and knock your socks off.
My partner and I were invited to spend a Thanksgiving with him and his family in Ellensburg the following year. It was a great event and I got to meet Kelly's daughters, nieces, and other extended family. Let me tell you, they are all wonderful people too that I am happy to know.
I am glad I was able to fulfill one of Kelly's wants by finding him his Maytag reverse rack dishwasher. I know he really enjoyed having one again and had fun putting it though its paces. Kelly was also very generous to me and gave me many items I will cherish forever. He was such a giving person who expected nothing in return as so many of you know.
I feel a terrible loss knowing that he is gone now. I do take comfort in knowing he is free from pain and illness and is surrounded by the love of God. Our loss is heaven's gain. I'll bet he is already signing up for 'guardian angel' duty.
Kelly, if you are reading this from up above know that one day we will meet again. Thank you for letting us into your life.

How sad..
I had gotten to know him via e mail very well, we always talked about getting together to bake, what a great class act guy, he will be greatly missed, I know he had great faith in our Lord and so he is ok now.no more pain and suffering, just peace and happiness.

This is a terrible thing! May he RIP-Now whenever I use a Sunbeam Mixer he provided for me-will be my Memorial to him.So sad-he was such a great member here and will be greatly missed.Again RIP KELLY!
Whilst I've never met Kelly like so many others that have posted, I was in total shock to see this thread pop up in the Imperial section this morning.
And whilst I may not have read all his posts, from the posts I've read he seemed like a great person, with wonderful talent in the culinary arts.
I haven't dealt with this sort of post before (and I hope I don't have to again in the future), so I'll try my best in this next bit:
Kelly, I never met you. I sincerely hope that wherever your soul is now, you are afforded rest and no pain. In a way, I am glad that you are gone, as you especially are relieved from much pain and suffering. Whilst your loss is hard for many to accept (Including myself), I am relieved and glad to know that you are in a better place now.

I am saddened to hear this news, but at the same time it's almost a celebration that Kelly is no longer suffering with the pain.
May God rest your soul Kelly.
You will be missed. My Condolences to the Family and also the Family here at Automatic Washer to those who knew Kelly.

I can't begin to describe how sorry I am to hear of our sweet Kelly's passing. My heart and prayers go out to his family, and to those of us that have had the pleasure of knowing him. I truly am going to miss him.

This is very sad news and I feel a great loss knowing Kelly has left us. Although I did not know him well, I always enjoyed his posts and comments, regardless of subject. He was a kind and polite person, with a positive attitude and had a joy for life that glowed like a light in darkness. One did not need to know him well to see that.
I did have the pleasure of meeting Kelly in person at Kevin's Long Beach CA wash-in. I recall he spent most of his time in the kitchen cooking for the rest of us. Like our beloved Terry, Kelly was happiest taking care of others.
As the Great Oz said to the Tin Man: "A heart is not judged by how much one loves, but by how much one is loved by others." Kelly had a large-capacity heart.

Kelly was an amazing man. His gentle touch and never ending enthusiasm for life reached all corners of the world. It was truly magical watching him in the kitchen, I have similar memories from Kevin's wash-in. I echo everyone's sentiments... It was amazing being with Kelly through all of his fighting, albeit online through AW. It was incredible watching the waves of support that everyone here sent his way. It brings me peace to know that he is no longer in pain, however there is now a void in my heart. I know that he will always be with us, and am glad to have such wonderful memories to help keep his spirit alive.
I always admired his baking and hope to someday aspire to his level of expertise. Back in 2010 he started a tread about cookies... I was intrigued, so I emailed him and asked for his recipe. Of course he replied with the recipe, and this has been my standby cookie recipe ever since. It's very simple and very adaptable... I'll have to make a batch as soon as I can get to a mixer, in his honor.
Kelly's cookie recipe:
Dear Fred,
I use a base cookie template for several varieties. They all begin with:
1 cup room temperature butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
Cream Well and add
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Beat until light and fluffy. Stop the mixer and add
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
Turn on low and mix just to combine. Stop and add:
1 package chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts
Combine and low. Drop cookies in 1 ounce portions onto ungreased cookie sheet. You can bake 1 dozen cookies at a time per sheet.
Oatmeal Cookies
Follow recipe above but decrease flour to 2 cups and add 3 cups quick oats. If you use old fashioned oats you must let the batter sit 20 minutes to hydrate the rolled oats before baking.
Peanut Butter Cookies
Add 1 cup peanut butter to the creamed mixture before adding flour. Drop the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet and before baking press them down using the tines of a fork to make a cross hatch pattern. I use my fingers and press them down with a ridged look.
Snicker Doodles
Omit the brown sugar and use 2 cups granulated sugar. Add 1 teaspoon cream of tartar (makes cookies crisp when cooled) Roll the cookies in cinnamon sugar before placing on cookie sheet.
Ginger Cookies
Add 1/2 cup dark molasses after beating in the eggs. Add 1 teaspoon each of ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Roll cookies in sugar before baking. If you prefer the cookies to be thicker or more cake like chill the batter before baking.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the oven racks in the 1/3 and 2/3 positions. You can bake 2 pans of cookies at a time. Set the timer for 6 minutes. Rotate pans from top to bottom and bake an additional 6 minutes. You may need to adjust time a few minutes one way or the other. If you use the small oven as well it should take approximately 12 minutes to bake one tray of cookies.
